Donor 4209

Hi everyone -
I am new to this process. My husband and I recently found out that we can never conceive a child with his sperm. After much prayer, we have come to terms with the fact that we will have to use donor sperm. I searched the donors and came across donor #4209. I have a really good feeling about him.... I can't explain why. Has anyone used this donor? Any thoughts/comments for me? My husband is blond/blue eyes... we want the child to look as much like him as possible. The donor's child photo looks similar to my husband but there is no adult pic. I am scared that the child wil look COMPLETELY different from my husband when he is an adult. Any thoughts?
Either way, we feel blessed that there is an option for us and we are greatful to all the donors.
Praying for you all. Our first round of IUI will be in February. Fingers crossed.

I have also chosed 4209 and kept checking for success stories. He does report 1-5 pregnancies, so I think that's a good thing. Going to make my first IUI attempt at the end of this month! I will be praying for both of us! Keep me posted

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with 4209 but haven't reported my pregnancy yet. Good luck ladies!

Hi Ophelia,
I feel your pain. My husband was also diagnosed with azoospermia (zero sperm count) in May. We also had to face the fact that we will never be able to have a child on our own and we chose donor sperm. We thought this by itself was horrible enough. But now we are faced with the fact that I am 38 and my numbers and antral follicle count aren't great either. On top of this, I also have a blocked tube. It feels like we have all the suffering of the world on top of us now. We will consider ourselves lucky if we can even have a child.
And after all of this, I have to admit, we (yes, even my husbnd feels so) that we do not care anymore if the child looks like him or not!!! It was an issue in the beginning, but life takes its journey and we follow. This will be OUR child, because having a child is a matter of raising someone, loving someone, and not whose cells are involved. The child will look like him, because gestures, mannerisms, behavior, so much of life is learned and not inherited, and we do not even realize.
Just remember you are not alone on this. In the midst of my husbands diagnosis I met someone who confessed he also had three children out of donor sperm. And when I met his three beautiful children- all from different donors but all looked alike- I was so relieved. That's when I decided that a donor was our best bet.
I truly believe donor sperm is our way... so much that I get completely upset when doctors want to push us to do a TESE + IVF. I think they truly miss the point of what parenthood is all about.
I wish you the best of luck.

We did 4 TESA + IVF and it did not work; I am 42 and we are moving on with donor eggs and donor sperm....when the prospect of not having a kid at all is starting to become reality, you come to accept the impossibility of being genetically related to the child...if I am blessed enough to become pregnant and have a baby, it will be ours:)

Thank you so very much for all of your replies and support!! It means the world to me to know that there are other people that can understand my pain. I will be thinking of all of you and will keep you posted. I ordered my vials today and will be starting inseminations in January.

Violetta - I agree with all that you said, your reply shed a lot of light. I needed that, thank you and bless you.

I'm pregnant with twins and we used donor 4209. Just wanted to pop in and say hello, and let you know that so far, I'm a success story with this donor! I'm 16 weeks and would love to stay in touch with others using this donor.

Any updates from anyone?

I'm now 30.5 weeks. My little girl is growing well and I'm getting excited to meet her in two months.

My little girl was born on 19 March. She was 7lbs 8 oz and a long 21.5 inches. She is now 11lbs and 24 in (90% for height). She is a darling with a huge smile and very strong. She has strawberry hair and will have blue eyes since both the donor and I have blue.
She is just the sweetest little girl, great sleeper (started sleeping 8 hours a night at 6 weeks!) and the love of my life. -
Hi Anne -
I replied on the other thread too... CONGRATS!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I bet she is just precious. As for me --- 3 IUIs with donor 4209 and no success... so confused.
Congratulations again!!!! :-) -
Ophelia, I just sent you a PM

I did 3 IUI and 2 IVF with this donor before I got pregnant. (I did a total of 11 IUI and 2 IVF). Bailey is my lucky 13!
I started the process at 38 with no know issues and excellent numbers. It can take time. -
I just came across this thread and wanted to write because our stories seem so similar. My husband also has been diagnosed with azospermia and we are beginning the process of using donor sperm. We are both so excited to get our family started but would prefer that the donor have physical traits similar to those of my husband. He's tall with blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. Your post about your daughter just made me smile
. We had this donor picked as one of our favorites. Any updates or advice? Any other donors you looked at using? We are just beginning the process so any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated!

We have a daughter with donor 4209, and she is absolutely beautiful! Maybe a little biased?
Best of luck to you on this journey - it is emotional and can be heartbreaking and painful at times. In the end, it will be the most joyful, important journey you will ever take.

I have a Daughter by this donor. Good luck and God bless!
If you have vials you want to sell back please let me know
