I would like to know if there's any single mom by choice from Montreal who went through the whole Process or starting and would like to get in touch and share her experience?

    Hi Smc,
    I have started thinking about becoming a single mom by choice here in Montreal a little while ago and have my first appointment in a fertility clinic to talk about it. Have you gone down this road already, or thinking about it as well?

    I know this thread is a year old, but I am also thinking of becoming a SMC, I have done all the preliminary tests and meet with the Dr next week to find out what the next step is... I am excited and absolutely terrified all at the same time. Is there anyone else from Montreal that feels the same? It would be nice to talk with someone in a similar situation that understand the decision.

    Hi,

    I am in Ottawa and just starting the process. Currently researching donor profiles and hope to start the process in 6-8 weeks time. Really excited. By the way, I am using a clinic in the GTA. I am quite overwhelmed with the amount of information and several sperm banks to choose from. Can anyone share their experience how they went about selecting their donor?

    I am in Ottawa and am in a similar situation as you. Just finished all the tests, results came out normal for a 38 year old female. Now, I am in a rush to find the donor ....but am finding the research to be stressful and exhausting. Message me if you'd like to chat further, would love to connect with someone who is starting the process at the same time as me.

    Hi Giamaya,

    Have you found a donor yet? I'm getting close to making my final decision. Just a little torn between Open ID or anonymous. I'm CMV negative so my donor choices are a little more limited, I would like an Open ID donor but I'm more "attracted" to my anonymous choice then the Open ID ones. If all going well I should starting my first IUI next month (oct) so excited and terrified all at the same time.

    I'm a single mother by choice in montreal. I'm very happy with my 20 months child. Not easy at beginning but with the child growing up it's getting easier.
