At home Insemination

Hi there! My partner and I are about to start trying for our first baby! We want to try at home insemination using frozen donor sperm from Fairfax Cryobank.
Has anyone started out by trying at home this way? If so, any tricks of the trade or pointers for success? We figured we'd start at home and see how it goes... It's more intimate to us and her health insurance doesn't cover same sex IUI treatments.
Thanks!!

Most insurances don't cover IUI for anyone. My partner and I just started our journey to having a baby as well. I was very surprised to learn that the sperm is what costs the most in the process, unless of course you need fertility drugs. I'd suggest finding a clinic that works with same sex couples and find out how much it would cost, you may find its way more affordable than you thought. At home inseminations are very unlikely to work in a reasonable amount of time due to the high error rate. Plus the cost of all the supplies you need can end up costing just as much or more than the actual insemination at a doctors office. I found out the insemination is less than 200 bucks when I called my doctors office! Congrats on starting your journey and good luck!

We tried at home and wasted a lot of money that way. Going to the doctor ended up being the cheaper route for us. Good luck!

My wife and I are looking to do ICI at home insemination. We haven't started the process but would be interested in keeping the conversation going with you.
