Hello! I've been reading the forums on here thinking what a great support this would be in starting my own family. Me and my fiancé just started the process, and contacted a fertility doctor a couple of days ago. I will be the one carrying, and will be 22 in August. We will be making our first appointment hopefully for two weeks from now which is the consultation appointment including the exam and an ultrasound. Does anyone have any tips for me or can anyone explain to me exactly how the whole process will work? When will the first iui take place after my consultation appt?

I guess it all depends on what kind of testing you and your doctor want to do. I'm 26 (carrying our first child). I have no medical problems and my period came and went every month as expected. I'm not sure exactly of all of the testing that had to be done (like specific names) but all in all it probably took us close to two months before we were able to start using the ovulation predictor kits. I did find out that I had some thyroid problems and had to be monitored for that. I am taking medication and also seeing a specialist for that. We were ready to proceed and I got shingles. Thank God I wasn't pregnant at the time, but I had to take medication and get that healed then wait another 30 days after it was healed. On our FIRST attempt, I became pregnant! All I can say is be patient. I'm 39w2d and the last year has just flown by. I wish now I would have kept better record of when we did things...the tests we did, etc. but I know now things work out exactly how they were meant to.

I also just made my first appotinment and it's scheduled for March 31. I'm very excited but also nervous and wondering what to expect. I don't know how long the process takes but am anxious to get started!

I just had my first appt yesterday at Dominion. The tests that ill be having done are my 3 day labs, also an HSG to make sure tubes are clear and not blocked then an exam and ultrasound. I also have an appt with Shady Grove on the 8th because theyre in my network so l get better coverage and basically its the same deal, labs, HSG, exam and sono. if you have no issues and normal cycles then you should be able to start the following month if im not mistaken.
