Age of sperm

Is there a certain cap on how long sperm is frozen before you throw it out? I ask because I was a bit disappointed to get the paperwork on sperm we recently purchased and found out it was from back in 06 and 08. Aside from that the counts on it are barely at the minimum.....

Cryopreserved specimens, when properly stored, will remain viable for an indefinite amount of time. Pregnancies have been reported for cases in which the sperm has been stored for 20 years prior to thawing and insemination. The quality of the thawed specimen is not linked to the amount of time it was frozen.
Fairfax Cryobank takes pride in client satisfaction and quality specimens. If a specimen's TMC tests below our quality standard prior to any additional processing, the physician/clinic must report specific specimen data and submit a complaint within 30 business days of thawing. Notification is to be made by calling 1-800-338-8407 to file a complaint over the phone with our Client Services department and receive the necessary Specimen Complaint Form or by downloading the Specimen Complaint Form directly from our website at: http://www.fairfaxcryobank.com/medicalprofessionals.shtml.
