Need advice on making a right decision on me or doctor

Im 23 i will be turning 24 soon I have two loving boys I been on birth control about 6months now im thinking about getting off so I can try for a 3rd child but im not sure if I should let my doctor run test to see if I will be ovulating on the right track because I was told by a friend that birth control can throw it off I never had a problem getting pregnant but now I wanna make sure if I can just hop off birth control in start tracking my own ovulation
