ID Option vs. Anonymous

breezybreezy Junior Member Junior Member
I am torn whether or not to go ID Option vs. Anonymous. I am leaning toward ID Option thinking if I were the child I would want to know who my donor was at some point in my life? Anybody have any thoughts or ways they decided what was best for them?

I didn't even think about ID options versus anonymous when choosing a donor, however it did occur to me after the fact. The donor we ended up choosing is anonymous. I just saved all the information I could from the site and put it in a file for later.

Even if the donor had ID options, I'm not sure how that would play out down the road. It's not always going to be a positive experience to have that information, which brings me to believe that not having it won't necessarily be a negative. I suppose it is what it is.

I'm not sure if my jumbled thoughts help in any way. I feel at some point in time there are going to be all kinds of questions and emotions attached to the identity of the donor. I can only hope that we handle the situation in the best and most sensitive way possible :)
