Newbie...and frantic over colposcopy! Anyone with advice/experience?

Hi folks,

I'm new to this board, and new to the world of TTC. My partner and I have the donor vials ready and waiting, and we were supposed to start IUI in a few weeks. So excited! Until now...just got word that my second PAP smear test result came back as ASCUS (long history of ASCUS, then normal, then ASCUS etct). So now my family doctor wants me to have a Colposcopy...but earliest appointment is September! Which means, if they have to do treatment and wait for results (cone/LEEP/Laser etc), that we won't be able to start the process of IUI until more like December :-(

I'm so upset...why does my body have to start mucking around now, just as we were about to start IUI? I'm 35, and feeling that clock...
Anyone been through a similar experience? I just don't know what to do...I know ASCUS is the 'lowest' of the abnormals, but they just keep coming back to haunt me...and I'm terrified that colposcopy will show it's got worse...and treatment can affect pregnancy right?

Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting...just feel quite alone at this point (though partner has been great).
Thanks everyone for any replies.

Well, despite over 100 people reading the thread, no-one replied...so I guess you ladies are blessed with normal pap smears! I'm a bit jealous, lol...

Actually, I'm trying to make light of the situation, but it still hurts...I got the result of the biopsies, and it turns out its CIN 1 (mild dysplasia). The doctor said I don't need to come back for another six months....and that most of CIN 1's go back to normal paps in time. It doesn't stop me thinking the worst, of course! (I have a friend who is currently battling cervical cancer, and my mother-in-law had to have a hysterectomy due to it too. So it's all very real for me).
As there is a 6 month wait, apparently I can begin fertility treatment anyway, and they can do the next pap during after the birth (if I get pregnant, of course..thinking positive here!). Thanks for reading all this! Good health and baby-dust to you all.

I don't know anything about your situation but seeing that it is now October, I hope that you have had some better luck!
