Single Mother of Donor 1177

Are there any single mothers of sperm donors experiencing their child feeling very sad (often cries) about not knowing who their father is? I have been experiencing this sadness with my daughter for many years. She has grown up without a father or a second parent. She often tells me that I don't understand what it feels like to not have a father because I grew up with two. She has mix emotions about knowing she is a donor child with no biological father. I'd notice her struggling with not having a father when she was in grade school. She would see the other children bring their father's to school on "Daughter Father Day", and she would come home with her heart completely torn. She is now 16 years old, and the longing to meet her biological father has grown tremendously.
My daughter just recently found out that she has half siblings, and had the opportunity to meet some of them. I was very happy to see her find some relief, its got to be tuff not knowing who you are completely. Sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing, it hurts me to see her hurt. All I can say now, is she is a gift to me. The greatest gift a single mother could have. Although, I had many challenges having a baby, I am grateful for her and thank God that he made IVF available for women who want to have children.

HI,
I was raised by my mom alone. My father left us when I was an infant and I remember a handful of times when he came around til I was 3. I feel that it hurts more knwing there is a person out there that chooses not to see a child.
I think since your daughter has connected with half siblings things will work out better.
My daughter and I know 4 other single mom families that used the same donor, we actually all live pretty close to each other and see each other often. the kids range in age from 1.5 - 6 years old. they all love each other and know they are brothers and sisters. We really are just one big family, lol. You should see us all in a restaurant LOL 3 grandmas, 5 Moms and 8 kids LOL.
it's great for both her and me, I have other women to talk to about everything and my daughter will have that when she is older.
I wish you and your daughter the best of luck!
