I used donor 4209, who is anonymous and no ID Option. My daughter is now 19 months. I went back and forth too but ultimately decided that he is not her DADDY since that is an earned title. He will be a very kind man who gave mommy a wonderful gift but since he is a biological source rather than a father, I decided to go with the donor that met all my other requirements and not worry about the ID Option. But it is all what you feel comfortable with

I just started the process and chose to go with the ID option. I went ahead and paid the full membership because I'm a very curious person and I figure if my future child turns out anything like me, they are going to want to know everything possible about this other person and I wanted that to be available should they choose. I figure when the child is 18, they can choose if they want to contact or not but at least the option will be there. Anne is right though, it's what you end up feeling more comfortable with. Even though it will affect your child one way or another, you are the one who has to live with the choice. I process better by writing so I drew a line down the middle of paper and wrote out all pros on one side , cons on the other. You'd be surprised at what your subconscious knows and how your brain tends to lean towards one even if you don't want to admit it to yourself. ;)
