My journey to SMBC

This has been one heck of a journey. Just wanted to share my story. I have only my mother who knows what I'm doing but I've decided to not be open about this process. I think there is something to others that are going through the same process understanding a bit more.

About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with fibroids. At that time I decided to try to have a child. Not being in a relationship of any redeeming value, I decided the SMBC was the only way. Well after several failed attempts (5 IUIs including some with Clomid) I had my first surgery. The fibroids were just too much. I took time off and about 1 1/2 yrs later attempted to go back into treatment. For whatever reason the first surgeon removed all but one fibroid. Well, it (the one she left) had to come out. After the last surgery I didnt even think about getting pregnant. Low and behold I end up getting pregnant at 39(with no treatment)! Only to loose my baby at 9 weeks. Even though the father told me we could try again I don't think he understood all of the pain that miscarriage caused nor do I feel he would be the person I would want to be my baby's father. Anyways, now at 40 I'm back in treatment. And my fibroids are coming back. Currently we have found 2. I did an IUI (unmedicated last month) including starting progestrone early...no go. But I'm trying again at least 2 more times. THEN it may be on to IVF. Its possible I didn't choose the correct donor so I'm changing to a new donor with this next attempt.

Wishing everyone out there on their journey to parenthood Baby Dust!!

I don't have any advice, but know that you are not alone. I had 7 fibroids removed 5 years ago and they're back. So I decided SMBC was the best way for motherhood for me giving the circumstances.

Thanks TX_Rain. I wish mine would have been 5 years apart. Apparently I have very fast developing fibroids. So a year, year and half I have issues again. I agree, with the circumstances this is why I've chosen this option. Never would have imagined this would be what I'd have to do. Good luck to you.

They started to return about a year and a half after my myomectomy, but became a concern at about 5 years. Now here I am, 7 years after the surgery.
