IVF vs ICI ?

My wife and I bought 6 vials of IVF from donor 4514 our doctor said we could do an IVF or ICI. We wanted to do an IUI but since they are unwashed IVF they would have to wash it which would lower the sperm count? And we would have to use two vials. Maybe even 3?.. So we have canceled out the idea of IUI and are trying to see if we should do an ICI or IVF my wife who will be carrying she is 23 and healthy. They have run all the test and they didn't find anything wrong. I know IVF cost more and has a higher chance for multiples but does IVF really have a higher chance of pregnancies over ICI ? is ICI not really as good as IVF or even IUI? Any feed back would be great! Also has anyone been successful with donor 4514? Or has used this donor ?

Hi. So here's what my DR has told us about IUI vs ICI. They do IVF, and IUI procedures. My dr recommends to all his clients if they are going to do a IUI, they should elect to order an ICI sample. Since it is unwashed, it not going to loose a lot of the count. When you get an IUI sample, many dr's wash them, when Fairfax already washed them prior to freezing. If you get a ICI sample, it is cheaper, has more to it and as stated earlier it doesn't loose mic of the content. We did a IUI with an IUi sample. The count was significantly lowered from 10 million to 7 million because the dr washed the thawed sample. Unfortunately, the first one didn't work. I think it was due to the type of sample. We are going to be doing another IUI with the ICI sample. Check with your DR and see what they suggest. Hope that helps.

There is more sperm in the ICI but you still loose a lot. The difference is there is more to start with. My 1st sample went from 28 mil to 14 mil.

Thank you so much for the replies. It all helps so Much!! Our Dr is kind of leaving the decision up to us he layed both options on the table. Since we have 6 IVF vials we can go ahead and do IVF or ICI. Were trying to figure out what one we should do.. Were thinking maybe ICI but than again doesn't IVF have higher ratings for it to be more successful over ICI? My wife is also scared to do an IVF..

IVF is very expensive. There is a lot more involved as far as meds/shots, egg retrieval and later transfer. The success rate is higher with IVF.
