Anyone use IUI A.R.T vials for regular IUI? Donor #2851

dproto630dproto630 Junior Member Junior Member
Hi my wife and I have finally agreed on a donor...but...of course there's a catch. The donor #2851 has a waiting list. When I spoke with someone at Fairfax they said that they had 4 IUI A.R.T vials and they can be used for regular IUI procedures, but since they have a lower motile the doctor will most likely use 2 vials per cycle instead of 1.
Has anyone had experience with this type of situation before?? We are just started the birth planning process and we're so overwhelmed with the technicality of finding out perfect donor but the donor having a waiting list.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

The same thing happened to us. Hubby and I finally found an Asian donor we really liked, and of course he was sold out of everything except the IUI art vials. You are actually lucky that your donor had 4 left....our donor had only 3. Of course, I was aware that ART vials can still be used but we would have to combine the two vials for our first IUI and leave the 3rd in the storage possibly for IVF? Anyway, I talked to my husband who told me it is really up to me. It was my mom who convinced me to go for it. At the end of the day, this is the donor we really wanted, and it was great that he still had these vials left. I was disappointed that they are not regular vials, but my mom told me not to stress and just get them. So we did, and now they are in the storage until the procedure. We are planning to start with my next cycle. I thought that my donor was going to become inactive, but today I noticed that there is a waiting list for him. I am going to try to get on that list.
My husband is Asian and I am white. I want the baby to look like my husband, but at the same time hubby and I are open to any race as as long as it matches what we are looking for. . If our first IUI with this donor doesnt work out, we have already selected a back up at another bank.
