Back to Back IUI

Hi,
I'm going in for my first IUI on Monday and was a little thrown off when they mentioned scheduling me only for one. When I previously talked to my doc he had suggested back to back but I guess with same sex couples they often only do one to save on costs. The nurse went back to the doc and we are going to trigger Sunday night and stick with the with back to back IUIs on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Does anyone know if I'm just wasting my money? Does a second IUI improve chances? If so do you know by how much? I have heard that frozen sperm doesn't last as long in the body so 2 made sense to me at least from my uninformed standpoint. Let me know what your experiences have been. Thank you!

Hey... when I conceived my son, we had just one IUI.. boom, pregnant. This time around we tried in July and September 2015 (one IUI each time) and both were unsuccessful. Our donor only had IVF vials left at that point, so we decided to go that route... but my IVF cycle was cancelled because they over-suppressed my ovaries. By some miracle, somebody sold back more IUI vials of our donor, so we went forward with IUI again last month... this was also unsuccessful. Our situation is (as far as we know) strictly male-factor, but I was getting worried. I am currently in TWW... and I asked the doctor specifically if we should do back-to-back IUI's to enhance our chances. He said that since it's all about timing, that we would basically just be adding more sperm and that wasn't necessary. Have you considered asking the doctor to prescribe you with Ovidrel? That gives a guarantee that you'll ovulate within 36-40 hours of the trigger... I did the shot on April 12th at 7:30pm, and went in for the IUI on April 14th at 7:30am. I felt myself ovulate around 12:30.. which was about 41 hours... but that's still basically within that time frame. Last month I ovulated around 42 hours. Do you get that pain associated with ovulation?

wow I just re-read... you triggered Sunday and you are going in this morning. I'm not feeling too hot, so my brain isn't with it (I think it's because of the Endometrin I am on). How did the IUI go??

I should add that with my son, it was completely unmedicated... I only used ovulation sticks and well, the sperm obviously lasted long enough, although back then I wasn't very in-tune with my body, so I am not exactly sure when I ovulated.

Hubby and i were at the doctor's yesterday and I asked him about back to back IUI. He said it was unnesessary because it only increases the odds by 2 percent, but comes with highly increased cost ( extra vial of sperm and a cost of extra procedure).. Instead, he prefers to increase my odds with Clomid. Even though I ovulate on my own, Clomid helps release more eggs, and more eggs increase chances. It makes sense and i am actually relieved he thinks that because we are paying out of pocket for everything.
Let me know how your IUI went, i noticed that you post was back in February. I hope it worked out for you.
