How many IUI's before you had success?

Hey everybody. I was just wondering how many IUI's you've all had before finally conceiving? I guess I am just looking for some hope. My husband and I conceived my son back in 2013 the very first try (unmedicated). This past year (since July 2015), we have tried 5 IUI's and have had no success.

It took us 3 IUI's which were all medicated. We ended up taking a cycle off between IUI# 2 and IUI# 3 to give ourselves an emotional break. I'm not sure if the break was the reason that we ended up conceiving on the next cycle, or if we were just lucky that round.
Have you had any investigations done to rule out blocked tubes, etc.? Have you tried a medicated cycle since July?
We chose to do medicated cycles to increase our chances of success, even though I was ovulating fine on my own.
This must be such an emotional time for you.
Good luck! -
Hey FTM, I've been tested and everything looks fine. The July 2015 cycle was unmedicated, but we moved onto Femara & Ovidrel after. Long story short, I had some leftover meds from my canceled IVF cycle and used Gonal-f and Ovidrel in May. I really thought that was going to be the month I conceived - three amazing-looking mature follicles. But, no luck. Bummer. We have a consult scheduled for July 7th but my doctor called and needs to reschedule for August... so I need to call back and set up a new appointment. Hopefully the break will work for us too

I also had three mature follicles on our second round of IUI and thought for sure that would be the lucky cycle. After our month long break, I ended up conceiving with two mature follicles. I used our break to de-stress and focus on my emotional and physical health, so that may be part of the reason we were lucky on round three.
Wishing you the best of luck after your appointment in August! -
Thanks so much

I am on my third natural cycle IUI. My doctor said that on average a healthy woman with no fertility issues has a 15% chance of getting pregnant each month. I know this won't help take the pressure off but at least know that you are not doing anything wrong. I believe the baby will be conceived when it is meant to happen. My husband and I really want to have a baby as well but none of us can rush our bodies or the process. I wish we all could have baby dust sprinkled on our tummies and have our babies when we want. Stay encouraged and keep trying. Also don't be afraid to take a break for a month or so to recover emotionally. That's what I am going to do after this month try if it is not successful.
