New and Nervous

Trice2tyTrice2ty Junior Member Junior Member
Hi everyone,

I am new to this and must confess a little nervous. Me and my gf have decided to try having a baby. I already have 2 teenage girls. I am over 40 years old and to be honest, thought my chanced would be next to none. I have all types of check-ups, exams, blood work etc. everything has come back positive.

We are looking to start the insemination process next month. I didn't want to start earlier because I am traveling to Paris in the next couple of days.

I think I am mentally driving myself crazy thinking about this whole process...uggghhh

From what I understand, it is a really easy process and doesn't hurt. I wanted to do Ivf, but my Ins is making me do 6 unsuccessful inseminations before they will pay for the Ivf. I am hoping that I really don't have to do that many and it takes the first time.

Hello, the process is painless, but can be stressful. I would just say have lots of open lines of communication with your doctor and partner all the time to relieve the stress. At the end once you are pregnant and the baby is born it will be all worth it. My LO is 9mths.

    Hey there...

My mother got pregnant in her early 40's with my youngest sister... naturally, so don't be too nervous.

I got pregnant with my son with my first IUI back in 2013. That being said, we have tried again to conceive via IUI 5 times, and none of those took. Everything on my end appears normal too. We also tried IVF but our cycle was canceled because my body didn't respond appropriately to the medications and I only produced two follicles (the only reason we went to IVF was because our donor ran out of IUI/ICI vials and we wanted to use that donor.. but since has gotten more IUI samples to be available).

Anyway, I think it's great that you have insurance, so just be patient (easier said than done). At least you know that IVF can eventually be paid for. We are at a stand-still because we've spent $11K in the past year TTC.

    GOOD LUCK ;)
