Donor 4940

After 3 years of trying with donor 4610, my wife had multiple miscarriages so we switched to me, I have had 2 miscarriages. We decided something needed to change and after careful consideration we picked donor 4940 and will do IVF next month. Has anyone used 4940? I am hoping this is the change we need to finally have our take home baby!

    Hi There.

I wanted to let you know that I have used donor 4940 four times using IUI and I did not get pregnant. I am now undergoing IVF with the same donor and I was able to make 6 embryos - five boys and one girl. Only 3 (all boys) tested normal when they were genetically screened (which is good for my age - 37). My transfer is planned on 8/5 - I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck to you and your wife! I just fell in love with this donor - it's a weird feeling I am sure only few understand.

I am so sorry to hear that mykiwi :( I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. I agree he is the perfect donor. I lived in Austin for 9 yrs...am a nurse and worked in Maternity at Seton Main. May I ask what RE group/doc you use? Just curious...no other reason. I'm in Houston now where I was born and raised. I had my first IUI with this donor on 8/27 and tomorrow morning us my beta test. I have 2 vials still at Fairfax but who knows how many tries I'll need to attempt. I will keep you in mind...I know how expensive all this is and I would hate for you to just lose all that $$$. Again I am so sorry to hear your news <3

aggienurse - you may have delivered one of my daughters at Seton Main ;)

We used Texas Fertility Center, but are looking for another RE to see what other options are.

Any updates on pregnancies/births with this donor? Thinking about choosing him.

We're five weeks pregnant on our second attempt using FET with donor 4940. Think sticky thoughts for us!

We just did an egg retrieval and retrieved 34 eggs, and we were able to freeze 13, 5 day blastocysts. These numbers are WAY better than any other time and we are hoping it is due to this donor. Transfer is November 17th! I can't wait.

Django25 Good luck! I hope it all works out!!! Sticky dust to you!

Excellent let us know! From personal experience FET is way less stressful than fresh! Good luck!
  • LaurenblumLaurenblum Member Member
We have been at this for 3 years now and have done IUIs, fresh, and frozen transfers. At this point it is all stressful for us but we are extremely hopeful that with this new donor it is the one!! After 5 miscarriages between my wife and I... I am not sure how much more bad news we can take! Keep your fingers crossed and we will keep you updated!! Keep us updated as well!!

    Hi,
I am day 1 post frozen embryo transfer with this donor. We have 6 excellent quality embryos from 2 cycles and this is our first attempt to transfer. Hoping for good news for us both! If successful we would be on a very close timeline

Hope all is well with everyone! So update on us, we transferred 2 in November which lead to a positive beta. At about 6 weeks it stopped growing. This was miscarriage #6 between me and my wife, I have had 3 and she has had 3. Because of all the complications with no explanation, we decided to save the money and have the remaining 11 embryos genetically tested. We got the results and 6 out of the 11 were genetically normal. We are planning another FET around the 15th of March.

So sorry to hear about your six losses. Have you ever switched donors, or have they all been from 4940? Glad you were able to screen the remaining embryos. I wish you all the luck and sticky baby dust!!!

We had donor 4610 up until this last try which resulted in a miscarriage. So 5 losses were a different donor. We thought switching would be the answer we needed but it happened again. The weirdest part is the losses are all, for the most part, happening around the 6-7 week mark. Getting ready to do an FET next Thursday!

    How did you go Lauren?

We're still chugging along over here. We found out we're having a little boy, due June 22.

Django25: thanks for checking in. We found out last Wednesday we had yet another miscarriage. I am super bummed as this transfer was used with PGS tested embryos. I am just at a loss and not sure what to do. Congrats on finding out its a boy!
