Pre-IUI: to test or not to test (IUI only due to MFI)

Question 1: Anyone succeed with a completely natural and home-monitored cycle for IUI?
Question 2: Anyone decline HSG test and conceive with natural cycle?
Backstory:
- The reason we are planning for IUI is because my partner's vasectomy reversal failed.
- I am a healthy and fit 32 yr-old.
- Our fertility specialist told us my reproductive system appears to be functioning as it should (she reviewed my info from 6 months at-home OPKs and symptom/cycle tracker app).
- Specialist concluded that, although it isn't a bad idea to do HSG test and try ultrasound monitoring and/or meds, none of that should be necessary for me.
- We've planned for completely natural, home-monitored cycles with IUI ... but now I wonder if we should spend the money on the HSG test before IUI.
Thank you, reader! I appreciate your time!

I was in the same boat as you. I am completely healthy and my husband had the fertility issue. We decided to do natural at-home monitored cycle iui (mainly because I didn't want to use any "extras" if I didn't have to). I got pregnant on my first natural iui cycle and have a happy healthy 2 year old and I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with # 2-again an all natural cycle. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing a bit of your story with me! Had our first natural cycle IUI yesterday... Our doctor was so fabulous. She was so excited for us and gave us so much positive energy while doing the procedure. Now time for the dreaded TWW!

Fingers crossed! Keep me updated!

Yes I declined the HSG, was 30 at time of trying to conceive with no reason to suspect fertility issues. Was successful on 5th IUI with natural at-home monitoring. Probably if that one hadn't of worked though my doctor might have wanted to start doing "official" ultrasound monitoring or even the HSG - I think we had some trouble with the timing, my doctor only did the IUIs at a specific time early in the mornings and on my 5th time which actually worked, he was held up in an egg retrieval that had complications, and the IUI took place about three hours later than usual, which I think is actually why it worked! Frozen sperm sadly doesn't live as long as fresh sperm so getting the timing right is really important and can be a bit tricky especially if you are just monitoring with the pee strips and not ultrasounds.
