I am 36 years old and interested in SMC. I guess I have focused more on career like and now feel it is time to focus on family life. Can anyone walk me through the process from start to finish? Obviously readers digest version but an idea of time lines and costs etc..and how you felt about doing it? guilt? worry? fear? stigma? I am so curious but yet dont know who to ask.

Decided years to become SMC, still feel the same way today . Last month, I have order my donor sperm vials & in storage. So I can be ready, hopefully in 2018 or 2019 to begin IUI insemination.

I am a 37 SMC in Canada. I have a 10 week old son now. The process was very simple once you chose your donor and ship the sperm to your fertility clinic they will do a IUI during ovulation. You chose whether you want to do a medicated IUI or natural. I chose natural as I have no fertility issues and my IUI worked the first try!!! Total time from when I order the sperm to insemination was about 3 months as you have to get a lot of blood testing before they will do the IUI and you need to track 2 months ovulation cycles. Total cost was about $5000 but I'm in Canada so the cost is higher out here. I was scared but now I have my son and it was the best thing I have ever done, I would have regretted not having children so I'm glad I did this. There is no stigma everyone where I live and work thought it was a amazing thing to do.

I was not aware there was even the option of doing natural IUI vs medicated! I'm going to do some more research on this - thank you for mentioning it.
