How easy is it to get the doctor to sign for sperm to be delivered to your house?

Me and my wife want to try AI. We are thinking about buying sperm off of the cryobank, but it says you need a doctor to approve you to have it delivered. I really didn't think any doctors would approve you...Is it an easy thing to do? Or will they deny you?

    Hey there Neo,

I asked two Primary Care Physicians about it and both were skeptical, saying that since it was not their area of expertise and they were unfamiliar with the process, they would not sign it. They recommended taking it to my OBGYN. I talked to my OBGYN last month about what I was planning on doing and he suggested seeing a Fertility Specialist, but also said that he would be able to sign the form if it's merely stating that I am a patient of his and that he is aware that I am trying to conceive (which is what most of those forms are really about, I think).

However, my partner and I are in the same boat as you and were getting discouraged with the 'no's we got from previous doctors. We called Fairfax and they let us know that we do not need to have a physician's authorization to purchase specimen's for At Home Insemination! They emailed me a couple of forms to fill out, so I would recommend calling Client Services.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey there,
I think it depends on the Dr. It seems like the more they understand what you want to do the better they respond.
I have had 2 different doctors sign the form with little problem. I just explained to them the situation and how we were planning to inseminate and they filled out the required paperwork.
I brought them the paperwork to make it easier for them as both clinics had to register with Fairfax prior to signing the form.
I would imagine that if you want to do an IUI at home the dr may say no as there is more risk that way in comparison with an ICI.
    Good luck!
