I'm currently all alone on this forum so when another parent joins, please reply to this post so I know I'm not alone anymore.

  • Hey there,

I just realized that you posted this message 3 1/2 months ago. Hopefully you still check in once in awhile! Well, hopefully SOMEONE will check in once and awhile.

My partner and I have a daughter by donor 1481. She was born in July of 2007. She is funny, smart, and beautiful (hmmm, things ALL parents say about their children)!

I'm interested in having conversations with parents of other kids from this donor. Hopefully those already here will respond and new parents will join!

    Hi Lori,
I just replied to your PM but I thought I should reply to this too (since I just noticed it!).
What a coincidence, my daughter is funny, smart and beautiful too!
I think we're still all alone on this forum so, what would you like to discuss? Do you want to share your story of how you got here? I posted our story on the main "Story" forum. I'll see if I can figure out how to add a link here.
  • Hi there,

My husband and I also have a daughter from this donor. She was born in October 2006.

We're actually trying again right now, so hopefully we will be able to give her a sibling.

Wow, three girls so far. I wonder if that's all that's come from this donor!
Keep us posted on your second and good luck!
  • On the donor registry I believe there are 4 children listed and 3 of them are girls.
  • hoppingpenguinhoppingpenguin Junior Member Junior Member
Does the registry list all children born or just the ones who have registered?
  • Just those who have registered.
  • hoppingpenguinhoppingpenguin Junior Member Junior Member
So I guess there are at least five children total since we never registered. Six if Lori and her partner haven''t registered.
I hope a few of the people over there join us over here :) It would be nice to have everyone in one spot but I'm not sure how I feel about joining a registry that isn't screened by CLI. I mean, how do you know that the people who join are legitimate?

I took a look at the public part of the DSR. It looks like there are two more other than those on this list - one boy and one girl.
I think you are both on there. Is it worth joining? I'm torn because I'm not sure how I'd feel if the donor joined but on the other hand, I'd like to make contact with the two other families.

By the way, I just realised that I've never signed my name to these posts.
    I'm Wendy.
  • Yes, I did register on the donor sibling registry. I joined for a year, but then was contacted by one of the mothers of the other children (a boy born in 2008 I think), and I freaked out and never replied and didn't renew.

I, of course, am no longer freaked out by contact by/from/to other parents who used this donor. I can't REALLY explain the freak out. I'm in the middle of writing an "our story", and maybe when its completed, both of you AND me will understand it better!

Lori, I can totally get the "freak-out". I knew when I first posted here that eventually someone would join me but when you sent me the PM last week I was completely caught off guard. I've been kind of obsessing all week now - I've reacted a bit differently :) but I really get that it's not something that you can predict how you will react to. It's kind of a strange conversation to have.
Take this all at your own pace. We'll be here.
  • Yeah, this is definitely an unique situation. I joined out of curiousity I suppose.
  • hoppingpenguinhoppingpenguin Junior Member Junior Member
    Curious about anything specifically?

Personally, I think I was wondering about specific traits I see in Miss K that I don't think come from me and wondering if the other children have them. That sort of thing.
Also, since we're only planning to have one child and K's cousins are much older than her, I was hoping that someday meeting some other children who were genetically related might expand her sense of "family".

I decided to join the DSR mostly so I could contact the two other families and suggest they join us here.
I've sent them both messages but received a notice on both that they are not current members. I'm not sure if they'll ever get the message but hopefully they'll learn about this forum one way or another.

  • Hi -

Mother of the handsome, outgoing, amazing boy from 1481 joining the conversation. I'm new to this and not active on forums in general - so... please cut me a little slack on my learning curve. :-) It's nice to make contact with some other families.

    Welcome Allison!
It's good to have the lone boy join us :)

We have a "Roster" set up to list the birth dates, etc. for each child so they are all in one place. I think that one and the Medical one would be a good place to start. We also have a Photo section where you can put up pictures if you want to.

Basically, we're here to share information about our amazing children and to help each other with any possible issues that may be genetic (like sharing medical info).

Think of this as a way to email all of us at once and to save the messages for future use I guess.

    Again, welcome!

  • Hi - I have a daughter that was born in April 2005 and a son born in August 2008 both using donor 1481. I'm just did some quick looking around on the forum and am excited to get my stories out there too, but probably won't have a chance until next week. I really enjoyed looking at pictures and can see similiar features in my kids. I've been wanting to find something like this for a long time.
  • hoppingpenguinhoppingpenguin Junior Member Junior Member
Welcome! I look forward to hearing more about your children.
  • Hi me and my husband also have a daughter with 1481 we had her in 2005 and we are trying again to give her a brother or sister but he is no longer a donor was wondering if anyone has anything in storage looking for ivf to transfer to my account.
  • Hello, Me and my wife are expecting a baby in April of 2016 from this donor. Don't know the gender yet but from the amount of girls this donor has had, wouldn't doubt its a girl :) We are really excited and would love to get in touch with all of you and hear about your growing families.
  • hoppingpenguinhoppingpenguin Junior Member Junior Member
Wow! It's really surprising to hear from new parents after all this time. It's been a few years since anyone joined. I thought this donor was sold out and retired. I guess he must have come back.
I'll add you to the Yahoo Group and you can say 'hi' over there. We also have a Facebook group which, I think, we'll eventually move over to from Yahoo.
