I'm a SMC who used a different donor. I too, was bummed out when my previos donor (result of my 3 yr old daughter) was forced to retire due to medical issues, therefore all his left vials were destroyed. I was devestated but it's all good!! My first donor was from Fairfax and 2nd was from CLI. I have 1 yr old bpy/girl twins as a result of donor #2 and they just adore their older sister! Although they are not full siblings, they all have the same momma, that is key! I look at it like this....if I had adopted kids, they would all still be brothers and sisters no matter what genetic make up!! :)

I was hoping for twins with round #1 so I would not have to try again, you know 2 for the price of 1! Ha! I pretty much freaked a bit when I found out I was having twins with my 2nd pregnancy. I was 8 weeks along and it was a cold February and I literally had to turn on the AC in my car! Ha! When I found out I was having a boy and a girl, I was elated as my daughter will now have a sister & a brother! :) It's definitely hard (and don't have help) but where there's a will there's a way!
  • i am a single mom my daughter is almost 15. her dad is not around. any way i have decide to do the iui. iam 37 and scared. I mean if i pick a donor with no id. what do i tell my child when they turn 18? And if i pick my a donor with an id. HOW DO i tell my child that mommie bought sprem just to have u? My daughter and i have talk about it, but we r both unsure what to tell the child. I hope to start my iui in dec, i am taking clomid, i pray for twins 2 girls is what iam praying for. My daughter and i have pick out girls names, but she dont like the names that i pick. we have also thought of boys. I just hope and pray that the iui take the first time, Iam working on little money. Is there any one out that help me pick the right donor? i would love a buddy to help me
  • Aimee.....what do you know about trying to find retired donors? How much does it cost to find a donor that's not active anymore? I have a child through a donor however just realized he is retired. We had two specimens left of his, and just underwent 2 IUI's but it failed. I would love to give my child a biological brother or sister and am willing to pay to get more specimens. If you could give me some answers of what you know that would be great!
  • I started when I was 38 and had #1 when I was 40. Then #2 after 18 tries and some miscarrages when I was 45. I wanted a #3 but then was diagnosed with 1st stage kidney cancer. I waited a couple years to make sure it was not going to pop up metastasized and then did IVF and got twins at 50. My 1st 2 boys are full sibs but my 2nd 2 are actually biological cousins as I used an egg donor and my brother's sperm. So just go for it. Each child will have his or her own personality regardless of their genealogy. I find they are all just my boys.
