I think there are plenty of selections... How are you narrowing your search results? When I do both the regular and "advance" search I've gotten 80+ potential donors, and my husband and I have narrowed it down to about 10. My initial searches even turned up people other other ethnic origins than I requested, hence trying the advanced.

We got lucky and our previous pick was available again so bought him. HOwever at the time of searching he wasnt. I was looking mostly by race. I already have 2 mixed kids, and was hopeing to try and get another mixed so they look somewhat alike. We already get weird looks at the 2 white girls, with a very dark brown kid, and a medium toned kid. I like to make it as easy on the children as possible being we live in a very small conservative town. With only the option of white or asian it dont leave much.

I understand the "small town effect" for sure. But families are so unique now with biological children, adoptions, step-children, guardianships and sperm donations, it's almost the norm to not be the norm! Almost everyone comes from a blended family or closely knows someone else who has. I would imagine a mixed race donor would be hard to come by from any lab, but I've found the selection here to be more than adequate even with the two odd search parameters we used.

Hello,
I tried searching for black or multi and got exactly 2 choices, one of which was sold out and the other was new in January. Talk about lack of choice! -
I agree. I have one vial left of a latino donor, but have been looking again just in case I need to buy more. I am thinking I am going to order from Fairfax cryobank. I am not comfortable going with a unproven donor so the only option from this bank isnt a option for me. May will say there is nothing wrong with having mixed families. This I know both my partner and myself are white. We have a son who is half black and our daughter is half latino. We are trying to keep them looking somewhat the same, however our daughter is very white looking. The vial I have left is the same donor that she is from so I am hoping it will work.

I have been searching for a donor for only a couple months now. I have looked at all of them that come up in my search. I have picked 3 but none are available. I come back every couple weeks to see if there is a new donor. I looked at the newest donor list which goes back to January. I'm not having any luck. I feel like I have to go with this lab since its the most affordable and has the most information available for free. I read somewhere on here that all the donors that are in the registry are available or expected to be available so I just keep watching my 3 favorites. I have several months before I need the sperm so I'm trying not to get too worried. But then I worry that they will become available and that I will feel the need to buy it so they dont sell out again. But then I'll have to pay for storage! Just a little frustrated and overwhelmed so I was hoping to hear from other people their thoughts or if they had the same problem with finding the right donor.
thanks
Kristy
