  • Cryogenic Laboratories, Inc has specimen quality standards for our donor vials. For pre-washed vials, ready for intrauterine insemination (IUI) the standard is 10 million motile cells/vial. The standard for ready for intracervical insemination (ICI) vials is 18 million motile cells/vial.

When CLI processes the donor’s sperm donation, these are the standard numbers to be achieved per vial. So actual donor sperm counts vary quite a bit, but during processing each vial becomes properly concentrated. If the donation cannot meet this quality standard it is not processed. In order to provide the best quality product to patients, we need men who produce high quality sperm. This includes high sperm count, above average sperm motility, and excellent morphology and viability. Currently, CLI accepts less than 1% of those men who apply to become part of our Semen Donor Program.
