What traits do you see in your child? Creative? Artistic? Athletic? Smart? Gifted? Friendly? Right or left-handed? Behavior?

Anything really....

Miss K is way ahead in terms of language skills. Based on those development milestone things, she has the language of a 4 or 5 year old and she's not yet 3. Otherwise, her development is fairly normal. She's very smart and figures things out quickly by watching or asking questions.
Other personality traits or whatever - she love music and sounds more than most folks. She loves books and will "read" herself books in bed before she falls asleep. She's fairly creative and likes to pretend-play.
She is completely average in size. She was born small but within a couple of months hit the 50th percentile for height and weight and has stayed there ever since.
We're pretty sure she's right-handed but still uses her left to eat and draw on occasion.
She's REALLY active and energetic. She loves to chase us around, wrestle, play in the pool. She likes to climb but at the park she loves the swings the best.

  • The monkey was born, and has remained, tall for her age. I think she was 22 inches and birth and is now wearing pants 2 sizes bigger than all of her friends. Everything about her is long and lean. She was never one of those babies/toddlers who were pudgy or had rolls. She has consistently been in the 80+ percentile.

Verbally she has always been right on target, right in the middle of the appropriate range. Her gross motor skills, however, have always been advanced. She was running, jumping, climbing, skipping, etc, well before her peers. Hence, her nickname...The Monkey.

From a young age (6 months) she had LOVED music and has been able to find the beat in any song that is playing. While most of her friends are jumping wildly to music, she is actually dancing to the beat. If a really slow song comes on, she does a pretty crazy hippie/interpretive dance sort of thing!

She is a high, high energy child. She loves to read, paint, and draw. Those, however, are pretty much the only things she does while sitting down. She is almost always moving. Even when we allow her to sit and watch a show, she is stretching, dancing, and moving while watching.

She came out of the womb, and remains, an extreme extrovert. Her first word (9 months I think), was "hi" accompanied by a wave (she was saying hi to a stranger I might add!). She doesn't like spending time alone, and although sometimes she wants to "stay at home cozy in our jammies", she generally wants to be out and about where the people are. I am also pretty extroverted, so at least one of her parents generally also wants to be out of the house!

This post has gotten so long that I now can't remember any of the other things you guys covered in your posts. Hopefully I have touched on most things.

  • Looks like the energetic part is common between them all.

    I call E a monkey too. :)

E has actually been short for her age. I think the ped said she was 30ish% for height and 75% for weight. At 4, she was 39" and 39#
