cost of IUI
Hello
I have been researching all my options. I am wondering if anyone can tell me any stories about experience with IUI? can you tell me how much it all cost? I heard they will want to do an ultrasound and I have read lots of people talking about injections and clomid? I am wondering if there is anyone you got pregnant without the meds just the IUI? Anyway I am wondering costs and outcome if anyone is willing to share?
thanks

Really it depends where you are located and what your insurance covers. Where are you located? maybe that will help get a better estimate.

I am in wisconsin and insurance will pay nothing so i need to know totals since i will be paying the whole thing.

well i went to my dr last night who referred me to a dr that would be able to do the IUI for me. she also suggested calling around and checking prices. I made my calls this morning and am a little dissapointed. they want to do ultrasounds and other such tests that im not sure i need since i dont have an actual fertility problem. its gonna be more expensive per try than i hoped. I actually hoped to just do an ICI on my own at home. So far it doesnt seem like there are many drs that sign off on that. has anyone been to a dr willing to ok an ICI? unfortunately the sperm bank wont mail the samples to me without a drs permission!
thanks

The ultrasounds are important to measure follical size. Find a doc that will listen to you. Tell them your story and that you dont want all the testing done, it is your option. If you feel you are fine then its not necessary.

When you called around, did you explain that you wanted to try IUIs without medication? If they know you are going without meds they might be more likely to drop the idea of an ultrasound. Ultrasounds are very important when fertility meds are used in order to make sure your ovaries haven't been over stimulated.

thanks for the advice everyone. what happens if the ovaries are over stimulated?
i did find a regular OB that i will be meeting with that is not requiring an ultrasound. I will ask him my questions and tell him my story to see if he thinks if we can see what we need to see on my charting if charting is then enough. i hope it is. this way i can afford to try more than once if i have to. fingers crossed though i dont mind getting it done right the first time! lol
thanks
