Kayley at 10 and a half months. She looks a lot like Teegan in the first photo here! Especially the eyes and lips though I think her hair is probably quite a bit darker. Neato! :D

  • Thanks so much for posting! Kayley is so beautiful- those eye lashes! I am posting a few newer photos of Tegan for you guys. So much change in just a few short months. There are certain characteristics Tegan has that I know she doesn't get from me and I wonder if Kayley has them too. She is a great climber, confident but cautions. She totally taught herself how to go down stairs! I've also noticed she's way more social then I was as a toddler. According to my mom, she is 1000 x more mellow than I ever was. I think we chose a great donor :)
  • Hi again!

So sorry I misspelled Tegan's name! She's beautiful!

I wish I could tell you I had vials leftover but Kayley's donor is actually my second donor. I have 2 sons from a different donor. I originally bought 6 vials. I got pregnant by IUI on vial #1. I got pregnant again with vial #2. You can imagine I was pretty confident I'd get pregnant again with 4 vials remaining. Nope. It took 7 more tries, the last being a last ditch effort IVF cycle where I had 3 embryos put back in. We are very pleased to also have a daughter now. I hope you find more but if you don't... don't let that stop you! :)

Wow. Tegan looks so much more grown up in the new photos! Her eyes look considerably darker too. They're brown now? Kayley's eyes sometimes look that baby grayish-blue but mostly look hazel now. My sons have hazel eyes. I tried 3 times for a blue-eyed baby. Nope. Haha. My mom has green eyes but my dad has brown (as do I) so I thought perhaps I had a shot at blue or green.

Looks like Tegan got the "childhood blonde" hair like the donor. Unless maybe you are a blonde. :)

She has a mouthful of teeth! Did she get them late? Kayley has just the first 2 bottom teeth and she is days away from turning 1. It's starting to worry me.

Kayley doesn't yet walk but is an excellent cruiser. She'll be walking in the next few weeks. She's already starting to let go of what she is holding onto for a few seconds at a time. She is rather brave yet cautious too. She can crawl down the step from the kitchen to the garage and she does it very slowly and steadily. I'm very scared of heights (can't stand going down stairs and refuse to climb a ladder beyond 2 rungs) so I KNOW she doesn't get it from me!

She is quite social and has quite a number of words- more than my boys did at her age. Several times now I have heard her say a simple phrase and that has shocked me! She is also a very mellow baby when she is out and about. She has only so much tolerance for staying home day after day but when we are doing something new she is the model baby.

She is also very thin and very tall. I'm tall but not thin at all. The doctor has me keeping her on formula for awhile and has me make it thicker. She eats a variety of foods but doesn't eat a lot at one time. Very odd to be purposefully trying to fatten someone up!

I'll try to remember to post pictures and updates as time goes on. Send me a PM and they'll notify me by email if you post an update, want to compare notes or want to see more pics. It's exciting!

  • Hello and Happy Thanksgiving! For the third Thanksgiving in a row I am most thankful for this awesome kid :) I'm sorry for the very slow response to your last message. I was having some login issues I couldn't find time to deal with. All fixed now! Thanks for the photos of Kayley. What a beauty! Thanks also for sharing that your sons are from a different donor. It was encouraging. We will press on for a sibling for Tegan, by any means possible! I recently lost a pregnancy, but I lost two before Tegan, so I am not completely discouraged and I know that it's worth the long journey. She get's ridiculously excited about babies, so we will do our best to get her one somehow.

She is a tall and skinny thing too. 90th percentile for height and 8th for weight, usually. She seems to eat plenty and have lots of energy, though, so I don't worry. Her teeth were pretty slow to come in as well. I don't think she had more than 4 at her first birthday. Even now I am still waiting for this one pokey eye tooth. Maybe those two year molars will arrive before her third birthday. lol

Her childhood blonde comes from both sides. Actually, when you put a photo of me at three next to 1452's we look like we could be siblings. We are in the middle of a real language explosion right now. Every day her 28 month brain surprises me. Last night she asked me very clearly if I had come out of an egg. I credited it to her preschool, but maybe our girls just have great genes for intelligence!

Her eyes are hard to pin down. They usually photograph dark but they're actually brown in the center with a dark hazel ring on the outside. I think they are identical to my mom's. She may have gotten my unfortunate hair, but I'm glad she didn't get my boring brown eyes! I may have also spoken too soon about how cautious she is. She has now had two sets of stitches- one near her eye from falling on a toy and one right smack in the center of her forehead from tripping on a gravel road.

I hope Kayley had a happy birthday and is enjoying her holiday season with you guys. I will look forward to an update!
  • Kayley at age 5. She had a Frozen birthday party. :)

She was a very early reader. She is about to start Kindergarten in a few weeks but she reads like a second grader. :D She is *very* talkative, loves costumes/ dress-up, play-doh, making cupcakes and other cooking, My Little Pony and Frozen.

    Love her to pieces!

I hope you still check here once in awhile. I had the website for these forums wrong. I didn't remember it was here at CLI!!! My bad.

  • I'm so glad you posted this! Sorry it took me 3 months to see it! Tegan is also a big fan of dress up, MLP, Frozen (maybe recently edged out by Inside Out) and she LOVES reading almost as much as she loves talking. Her teacher says she reads with an impressive amount of expression, so I put her in a little theater class for kids. She might be a broadway nerd in progress as she doesn't blink when she is watching anything on stage.
We got her that little brother she had been begging for in time for her fifth birthday (a year+ ago already!) and she's pretty smitten with him- so much that her patience never falters, even when he acts like a bratty toddler.
Her and Kayley certainly share a few genes! If you think Kayley would ever be interested in having a pen pal in the future, keep us in mind. I'm glad you and I have this forum.
Here's one of Tegan on her 6th birthday:
