Does IUI need to be washed again?

We have been deciding between 2 different MD offices for our insemination. One office says we do not need to re-wash the IUI preparation before insemination since it is preferred to be washed at the time it is fresh. The other MD office says they do a wash on IUI (or ICI, which we expected) before insemination. Is this extra re-washing necessary? The MD office that recommends it says there is a cryoprotectant even in the IUI that must be washed before insemination. It's an added expense, just wondering if CLI recommends it. Thanks!

Our IUI (pre-washed) specimens have been washed to remove the seminal plasma and are ready for an intrauterine insemination (IUI). These vials do have a cryoprotectant but it does not have to be re-washed. That is a personal preference of the medical office. Just make sure they follow CLI protocols for thawing vials and verifying quality standards prior to re-washing.
Our ICI (unwashed) specimens can be used for an intracervical insemination (ICI) or can be prepared at your physician's office for an intrauterine insemination (IUI). These vials are a little less expensive so if your physician's office requires that they prep the vial at their facility for an extra fee, this may save you a little money.
