Donor #4185. Transfer of ownership needed

edited 2015 23 in Social Groups
Dawn Crowley and Nancy Van Liew. We are the proud mothers of Reed Kelly Van Liew and are searching for anyone who may be willing to do a transfer of ownership of Donor# 4185. We used Dr. Jeffrey B. Russell, Director, Delaware Institute for Reproductive Medicine to make it happen. Reed was born Dec. 3, 2012 and we are hoping after the required wait time to try for a little brother or sister and would love to use the same donor. Unfortunately he is no longer active. anyone who could help us, please contact us through this forum and hopefully we could set up a transfer of ownership of Donor specimen through Cryolab. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

  • I am also seeking vials from this donor for a sibling attempt as well. If you find any or more than you would need please let me know.
  • Will do and please the same to you. Thank you so much!
  • Just curious, have you looked into the "donor reactivation?" If so do you know how much that costs? Or if there is a way that the costs could be split between us (depending on the amount)? It was something I have thought about looking into, but do not know much about it at this time.
  • If I remember correctly she told me it could be a grand or more. I will contact them again and ask though. That's an interesting thought. I will post again as soon as I know.
  • Is it guaranteed that if we do the donor reactivation that we will end up with vials? Or would we be spending that type of money only to find out that he is not longer willing to be a donor? Also who are you speaking with or how can I contact someone for more information?

Also, just curious are you looking to connect with half-siblings? If so, I am looking to at least be able to talk with other parents of half-siblings, and if not, that is okay too :)

    Thanks!
  • Hi. Sorry for the late response. I had talked to someone from Cryolabs when I put us on the waiting list about what it would take to re-activate a donor. From what I remember, there was a fee to contact him, then he could say yes or no. If he said yes then I think came the most expensive part of getting him back in. Also with that came a 6 month waiting period for him. I am not positive about all the details but I believe that was round about the conversation I had with them. We are most likley going to be looking for a new donor. We may be able to try again as early as mid July and don't want to wait another 6 months or longer.

We hadn't even thought about half siblings until hearing from you. We're still not sure how far we would want to go but I have to admit we are really curious. We have a son and were curious what you have and if you may be interested in exchanging photos. He is the most beautiful boy (even if we are a bit biased) Not sure how much personal information we want to give out and understand if you are as protective but let me know what you think. It's been a pleasure chatting with you and if we hear anything at all about the donor I will let you know. Thank you.
  • Hi,

I know it has been a very time since we last posted but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me if you had any luck with the diner. We have since tried again with another diner but failed. Thank you so much for time and we hope to here from you soon.

    Thanks,
    Dawn
  • We are also asking for a transfer of ownership of vials for donor 4185. We had our son on 9/19/12 and would like him to have the same donor. If anyone has extra please let me know. Megan McDonald and Natasha Vaccaro
