CMV
Hello, I am CMV negative for both IgM (current or recent infection) and IgG (anti-bodies from a previous infecton, possibly many years ago). I have been told that I should find a donor that is CMV negative for IgM and IgG as well. However, while all donors are CMV IgM negative (recent or current infection), many are IgG positive (meaning they have the anti-bodies becuase at some point in thier lives they had CMV infection). How could I possibly get CMV from donor sperm if the infection is not active, but rather they just have anti-bodies? Why do I need a donor that has never had a CMV infection?
Thanks so much for your insight!
