After the notification was sent for the medical update in March 2015, a new report has been made of one child from a different mother who has both hypospadias and a cleft palate. There is a slightly increased risk for other offspring. These are both multifactorial conditions which are present at birth or not at all. Hypospadias only occurs in boys and is an isolated issue involving the opening of the urethra at the tip of the penis. It can be placed off center or down the shaft and can be surgically corrected if needed. The risk to boys is estimated at 5%. A cleft palate can also be surgically corrected and other offspring are at a slightly increased risk as well, estimated at 2%.
