Celebrating my miracle's 1st birthday this weekend!

My husband and are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating our daughter's first birthday this weekend and it's all thanks to Fairfax Cryobank and Shady Grove Fertility.
We started trying to have children in our mid 20's, only to find out that my husband has an extremely low sperm count. The doctors told us that IVF with ICSI was our best bet, and they saw no reason we shouldn't have success with it. Our first two attempts were negative. We were elated when we got a positive beta with the third attempt, but were soon crushed to learn that the doctor's suspected it was ectopic and advised termination. Our insurance wouldn't cover any further attempts and my husband's sperm count meant that IUI was not a viable option unless we used donor sperm. We started researching cryobanks and found a donor that we absolutely loved. We did a natural cycle (no stimming meds) with monitoring and a trigger shot followed by a single insemination and got pregnant the first time! Our beautiful baby girl arrived on Aug. 17, 2009 and I can't believe that after 4 years of trying, we're about to celebrate her first birthday! I will never be able to express how thankful we are that there are people out there who are willing to go through the rigorous process to donate the seeds to help people like us grow the family we've always dreamed of.
