Our twins are in Kindergarten

We got married in September of 2000. We spent two years TTC on our own before having tests run. My husband began treatments (using clomid no less ;) ) to increase his sperm count. He spent over a year on meds and his count increased significantly but was still very low. After more than 3 years of trying to have a baby we sought the help of a reproductive endocrinologist. We tried two cycles of IUI with me on Clomid and with my husband's sperm. Neither worked and his counts were getting lower and lower. My husband came to me and suggested that we use donor sperm. I was so grateful that he was ready and willing to make the move. We spent a few weeks reviewing donors and finally selected one. My first IUI with our Fairfax donor was in April of 2004, on my birthday. It didn't work. We were crushed. We only had the money to get three vials and pay for the IUI's with them. Then we would be out of funds. On May 14, 2004 I had my 2nd IUI/Clomid/Donor cycle. On May 28th I had some spotting and was heartbroken knowing that we had failed again. By the next day the spotting had stopped and for the first time I thought "implantation bleeding". I immediately ran to the store and got a pregnancy test as it was the weekend. Instead of taking three minutes to get a result it took about 10 seconds to turn a hot pink positive. The next day it was confirmed with a blood test and later that week followed another. The second test was my first clue that it might be more than one baby. My hcg levels were very high and rapidly doubling. At 6 weeks 6 days we had an ultrasound and saw two tiny heartbeats and found out my due date was Valentine's Day. We were incredibly thrilled. At 20 weeks we found out we were having a boy and a girl. My pregnancy was pretty uneventful until 27 weeks when I was told to give notice at work and get off of my feet ASAP. I spent 8 weeks on modified bedrest and was told I could be up and about at 36 weeks. I delivered my beautiful babies at 37 1/2 weeks at the end of January 2005. They were both perfect.

My husband along with our donor gave me the worlds' greatest gift. They made me a mother. I could not be more grateful.

Against all odds we were able to conceive on our own 4 years after the twins were conceived. Our little man is almost two now.

We have an amazing family because of the availability of resources that Fairfax gives to their customers.
