Male Factor - How many DI attempts for a BFP?

Good Evening everyone,
My husband and I have gone through IVF/ISCI and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl last May. We would like to try for one more but can not afford another cycle. We have decided to go with donor insemination.
My husband has severe male factor infertility.
I was wondering, for those of you who have MF infertility; how many attempts with donor insemination did it take you to achieve a BFP?
Thank you so much for sharing!

I think in another thrad, there were a bunch of us that it took 6 tries to work... My first four were without drugs, the next two used various meds and that last one (number 6) worked.

When going for my 1st pregnancy it took some time to iron things out. I do produce eggs and ovulate on my own, but when using donor sperm that is a one time shot with an IUI, and a small amount of sperm considering what you usually get when having intercourse, it can take some playing with things to get it right. We tried 3 IUI's without meds or monitoring and they failed. I then tried 2 IUI's on Clomid to help boost our chances by producing more than 1 egg, we didn't monitor those tries either (I was just going off OPK's) and they also failed. IUI #6 I was again on Clomid plus I did a couple ultrasounds and a trigger shot to time things just right...that was my 1st BFP.
When we went for pregnancy #2 we jumped right back to what worked last time though I did not respond well to the Clomid, I had 1 failed IUI and the tried 2 more cycles on Clomid but canceled the IUI's due to lack of response. We moved to injectable meds after that and I got my 2nd BFP on our first IUI with injectables meds.
So for my 1st pregnancy I got pregnant on my 6th IUI, for pregnancy #2 I got pregnant on my 2nd IUI.
Good luck! -
It took us five tries--3 with clomid and 2 with injectibles until I conceived and I was 42 at the time. I'm amazed but it worked!! Best of luck to you!

We also have MF infertility. We tried 2 IVF/ICSI cycles but they failed. We decided to try IUI with donor sperm, and we were lucky enough to have it work the first time. My RE had me on 100mg of clomid and I used the ovidrel trigger shot just so it would be more of a controlled IUI cycle (I do ovulate on my own though). Timing is everything. I had 3 follicles, and was insiminated with 12 million sperm. Now I'm 11 weeks pregnant with our first child. Good luck on whatever you decide.

We too have male infertility and we used donor insemination and it too us two cycles but we are blessed to have a happy, healthy 3 yr. old now. Its worth the wait and every penny spent! Good luck!

We got a BFP on our first IUI using 100 mg Clomid and Ovidrel trigger (5 follicles) but miscarried at 14 weeks. Second IUI was canceled due to thin uterine lining caused by a reaction to the Clomid. We got another BFP on our third IUI using Injectables (7 follicles) but am currently miscarrying.
