Brand NEW - D.C. Metro Area

kygrrlskygrrls Junior Member Junior Member
Hey All-
My partner and I are currently living in KY but will be moving to the D.C. Metro Area/Maryland area within in the next year. We are waiting to start our family until after we move for a variety of reasons (moving stress, change of care, etc). So does anyone have resources for the D.C. area (specialists, gyns, etc)? We are new to this whole thing and any advice would be appreciated. We are in our mid-20s, with no apparent fertility issues (regular cycles, etc) so it's not like we need a heavy duty doctor. Anyway - like I said, any resources you know of OR any friendly advice would be beyond appreciated.

Thanks!
C.

I used Shady Grove fertility - they have a lot of offices in the area and I had a great experience with them.

As for gyns - it depends on where you'll be living. I know some great ones in Alexandria, Arlington and Herndon. Let me know if those are close enough for you!

Shady Grove is on our list of potentials...We are looking at homes in Silver Spring/Bethesda all the way over to Camp Spring, however if there are any gyns located close to a Metro stop, I'd consider them fair game.

I live in PA but go to MD to Shady Grove and I have had good experience with them. I just started the TWW this week and hope for good news soon.

We used Columbia Fertlity in DC and we're very happy with them. I think they also have a Bethesda location...

Just as a side note of caution.....the cost of living in those areas are some of the highest in the nation. I'm sure you've done the research and hopefully have saved your pennies :-) on average small condos start at 200K and to rent a one bedroom about $2300 (in the safe/nice areas). I'm from the area and recently moved.

Anyway, I went to Shady Grove Fertility for 3 unsuccessful IUIs. The place is a factory but they are very organized and the staff are very friendly. If I didn't move, I would have continued there for a couple more cycles. If its a personal, warm and fuzzy experience you need Shady Grove is probably not a great fit for you. However they are in the baby business and the successful outcome is what matters!

    Good luck on the journey!
