I used him twice, with no success. Really thought he was great in terms of all of his profile info (I bought some things beyond the freebies), but his numbers pre and post wash were not stellar at all. I was really surprised by this, as he has a lot of pregnancies. Not sure if I got a bad batch and whether I should try him again or abandon ship.

How do you know when a donor has alot of pregnancies? I just see yes or no for pregnancy reported. Just curious.

You can call and ask.

Since my first post asking about 2939 I have had two beta tests and I am now pregnant using 2939....maybe you should give it another try?! The doctor said the embryos looked excellent. Just waiting now for ultrasound to see how many babies!!! Do you mind me asking how many other pregnancies were reported?

Anyone else use 2939 with success (or even good numbers) for IUI?

We used 2939 and were successful! We had twins! A healthy boy and girl.

I just saw that 2939 is now a Restricted donor because of a problem with one of his offspring. Anyone know anything about this? I still have one vial left in storage and wondering what I should do?

Donor 2939 has just been restricted by Fairfax Cryobank
RESTRICTED: An offspring with medical issues believed to increase risk to other offspring has been reported. Use of this specimen is not recommended. Please contact our genetic counselor for details at 800-338-8407. Specimens from this donor may be used after you review, sign and return an informed consent document to us. Often there is only a small risk with many issues present at birth or not at all. If you have a child by this donor already there may only be a minimal risk. Call for details.
Why would a donor become restricted?
A child has been reported with a medical condition that could pose an increased risk to other children born from this same donor. An example would be a child born with a rare disease where we determine the donor and mother are both carriers. Other offspring would have a small risk, typically less than 1%.
In the general population every pregnancy has about a 3%-4% risk of producing a child with a birth defect or mental deficiency. Our extensive screening and testing reduces this risk, but cannot eliminate it. We ask physicians and clients to notify us whenever they believe a child born by donor sperm has any medical condition. In the rare cases when we receive such notice, we immediately remove that donor from sale and investigate the report. While we are gathering information the donor's status will be "Under Investigation." We ask for a physician's written diagnosis, and a family, medical and pregnancy history on the mother. If our Medical Director determines that using the donor could increase the risk of the occurrence of a medical condition and/or birth defect above the risk in the general population, we will restrict that donor, meaning that his sperm is no longer available for sale to the general public. This type of restriction applies to all units that were sold and are unused regardless of when they were purchased. An investigation can take as little as a day to resolve but can also take several months as we communicate with medical personnel and family members about a situation. An investigation that does not result in a restriction allows the donor to return to a No Restriction status. For more information, please see the donor and offspring medical evaluation page on our website. -
Has anybody heard of a donor becoming restricted before?

Yes, It's always a possibilty for "issues" to pop up after the baby begins to grow. There can be small things that may be of concern, which is why it's important to share this information so that potential parents can be informed consumers. It may be a fluke but Fairfax is responsible for sharing this infomation and pulling the donor out of rotation. However, there are tons of genetic issues that cannot be tested for and anything can occur due to chance. -
Anyone have any insight into what the birth problem was for this donor's offspring that resulted in the restriction? I used this donor but unsuccessfully and have since moved on to other donors.

I am pregnant with twins from this donor and just read this....I am now scared to death. Does anyone out there know anything about this restriction? It is after hours and I have no way to get answers : (

anxiousaz,
Please try not to get overwhelmed with fear tonight..its not good for you. Remember that just because it happened to somebody else doesnt mean it will happen to your precious babies. They open at 7 am so try to just get a good night sleep and figure it out tomorrow morning!!

I am also pregnant by donor 2939 and due December 13th. I was told there was an offspring reported having a cleft lip and pallet and that there there is no way really to link it to the male or female. A half sibling, using the same donor but different mother, would have a smaller risk of about 1% or less. Hope this helps.

Hi all..
I am not a genetic expert but I can tell you that I have a perfectly healthy baby born out of donor 2939. I can understand the fear and anxiety if you are pregnant and hear about a news regarding your selected donor but genetic problems can come from either side and as someone mentioned, they can also be compensated with the mother's genetic pool balancing out... so keep sending love to your babies and to donor 2939 and trust that all is well!.
Congratulations to all! -

Congratulations for your baby and best of luck in the delivery! -
We have two perfect little girls from this donor (twins). I noticed the 2939 forum is pretty slow, but their are several proud parents on here. Congratulations to everyone who has had success thus far and warm wishes to those still crossing their fingers every month waiting for that pink plus sign! It took us until our last try to find success (6th try). It was a rough road, but SO worth it!

Thank you so much! We had a healthy baby boy on December 11th.
Congratulations for your baby and best of luck in the delivery![/quote] -
I had a healthy boy in may 2010
