Our daughter was born 14 moths ago thanks to Donor 2543 on the third try without meds. I was 38 but already had a son.
As I'm looking at the donor's childhood pic I am noticing how much she looks like him. I'm worried that if she looks like him a lot when she will be old enough for me to show her his pic, she'll want to somehow contact him - though he's anonymous. I so hate thinking about that...Anyone with same worries? Also, "The Kids are Alright" didn't alleviate any of this fear! Good luck to all who are trying. Don't give up hope!!!

I heard about that movie - it's rubbish. Don't worry about her asking about the donor - you have all the info she could want, really - medical, etc. She has a family, and she has love. She could be curious, sure, but it's her family that she loves, and that's you, not some guy who just helped out with getting started.

We found out today we are pregnant from this donor. This was our first medicated IUI cycle. We have no fertility issues. We thought his childhood photo was cute and his sperm count was 17 million. We'll post again when we find out the gender of the child.

Of course our children will ask; moreover, the more we are afraid of this or uncomfortable with it, the more confusing and alluring it will be for them. None of us should feel ashamed of how we went about conceiving and creating a family. I am by all means expecting there will come a time when our son and daughter will gather together in their bedroom and look at pictures of our donor (1914) and fantasize about how amazing he is or how HE would understand what they are going through, or HE would let them go out to such and such place, etc. And I will let them. For my part, I went ahead and ordered every product under the sun that Fairfax offers in order for them to have if and when they decide to look through it all or listen to the interview or whatever. I also registered on the DSR and we are in contact with 4-5 other families with offspring from the same donor - we even had a "family" reunion two summers ago. It was really a beautiful week and we all had a great time.

We have two healthy, beautiful children with donor 2543. Our son is almost 7 and our daughter is 3. Our children look so much like him in his childhood photo! Would love to connect with other parents/children. We are a same sex couple in Los Angeles, though most of our family ties are on the east coast. We would LOVE to join in the next family reunion when/if it's held.
