Success stories

I thought it might be nice to start an area where people can tell their success stories....their age, how long it took for them to get pregnant, means/medication/etc used to get pregnant, # of attempts, donor # they used, etc. I thought it would encourage those of us who are still trying.

Our story is a tad long :) My husband and I tried on our own for close to 2 years. I then went and had blood work and an HSG done...all my testing came back fine. He had an SA and it came back at 0. We digested this and almost a year later decided to go the donor sperm route. We picked donor #1962, and I bought 1 sample...yeah silly me thought for sure it would work on the first try. I did no monitoring or meds just one IUI going off an OPK. When that failed I bought 2 more samples and tried two more times with the same protocol, they also failed. I bought the last 4 samples by this donor and for IUI #4 I went on 100mg Clomid, again no monitoring and based my IUI off an OPK. That one failed also so we tried 100mg of Clomid again...IUI #5 failed. Our plan was then to go to injectable meds but I didn't want to skip a cycle waiting for my meds to arrive so I ordered my meds but gave 100mg of Clomid one more try on IUI #6. This time I was monitored (I had 3 good sized follies and one that was a bit small) and given a trigger shot 30 hours before my IUI (they told me 36 but someone else said since I do ovulate on my own 30 hours would be better so I tried it) instead of just going off of OPK's. That cycle worked and we have our amazing, now 2 1/2 year old, triplets. I really think monitoring and the trigger made all the difference...the OPK's were just not good enough for me.

We decided to try for another baby and had one sample left from #1962, we did exactly what worked with the trio only this time I only had 1 follie and I took the trigger 36 hours before the IUI. It failed. I was upset but decided to pick a new donor and try again. We picked donor #2623 and bought 2 samples. I tried 100mg of Clomid again but was not responding very well to it, I was only getting 1 follie and I really didn't want to waste my last samples unless there were 2 targets. So we called off that cycle and decided to use the injectable meds that I never ended up using the last time we were TTC. I was on a very low dose and ended up with 2 follies, I triggered 30 hours before my IUI and we now have an almost 4 month old baby boy.

We have one sample left from #2623 and plan to try it early 2013...though if that one try doesn't work we will be done and quite happy with our 4 amazing kiddos.

It's a long and trying road...good luck to you ladies still on it, I wish you all the best and send lots of baby dust your way!

My husband and I ttc for 2 years on our own before seeking help from our Dr. We tried clomid at home and that didn't work so my Dr. had my husband do a SA and that came back bad, they said my husband had 0 sperm, this was very hard for us to handle. My Dr. reffered my husband to a Urologist to see what was going on, that Dr. did a exam and told us that my husband was born without the Vas Deferens and that he would never have children naturally. We were shakin but determined to have a child no matter what that took. We researched adoption and donor sperm. And we decided that using donor sperm would give us the chance to have the family we so desperatley wanted. I ordered 3 vials of donor 1966 and used clomid 50 mg, with IUI and monitoring I had 1 good follie and the first IUI failed, I ordered 1 more vial of 1966 and did a second IUI with 50 mg clomid but also had the trigger shot I had 2 follies this time and both were good size, We only did IUI one time this time and It was success!! We now have an amazing 3 year old son. Our Journey did not end there we had 1 sample left and after our son was born we didnt think we would go through this all again, so we donated the one vial to our clinic and we were done. Well 2 years later the baby bug hit us again, We were sad that we had given up that vial but knew our donor was still available, and after months of thinking and preparing for this adventure again we are back on the horse, We ordered 2 vials of 1966 again and Iam in my first cycle of 50 Mg Clomid and awaiting for the trigger shot in a few days and IUI to follow. Lots of prayers and positive thinking this time around. Hoping for another miracle in our lives.

Just adding to my post a few months ago, after 50 mg clomid My body did not respond so we cancelled our cycle, this cycle I was on 100 mg clomid and just came from my follie check appt. and it's not good my body is just not responding like it did 4 years ago. I am very sad : ( Our Dr. said we may need to start using injectables but we are not sure that we can go that far! Lots of baby dust to you all out there. We have lots to think about!

What about trying acupuncture? I just started and it really feels like it's helping with my ovulation.
  • Have you had success a second time with donor 1966?
