Donor 4001

After 6 months of looking, adding favorites, taking off favorites, prioritizing my favorites, and thinking about it probably WAY too much, I ordered donor 4001 yesterday. Anyone else using 4001? He has confirmed pregnancies, which was one thing I liked. I also liked his medical history (nice and boring).

I just did my IUI with donor 4001 on July 8th. I am trying to patiently wait for my results. This will be my first IUI. Have anyone had any results with this donor as of yet?

I am sorry to hear about your bfn. The first negative was the most disappointing for me. I hope next month will be your lucky month

Did anyone end up getting a BFP? I am due in 11 days now, wondering if there are any potential half siblings out there?

We are using 4001 for the first time in April. Is anyone else concerned that our children may grow up and by some freak coincidence marry each other? Im really serious. Is this why we look for half siblings? My hubby wants NOONE to ever know we used this service. Are you telling your children in the future?
  • AllieAllie Junior Member Junior Member
My hubby felt the same way, however, I needed support and felt that he did too. He has a genetic issue that causes him to have no sperm. We told very few people, just the ones who we know will keep the info to themselves: my mom, his mom, his sister and brother in law and my sister. All of them said that they didn't care how the baby came about, as long as we got one - they all knew how long we tried and how much we wanted to start a family. Oh yeah, my OBGYN knew, and the pediatrician knows. I plan to tell my daughter how she came about when it is age appropriate, only because I want her to be aware of her medical history. Also, in school if she learns about Punnitt (sp?) squares, she will know something is off since her donor's blood type was different from mine and my hubby's. As for half siblings, I know (from talking to Fairfax) that there have been 1-4 other pregnancies reported. I will be registering on the Donor Sibling Registry at some point, as of right now, there are no half sibs registered. Since there have been so few pregnancies reported, I don't worry too much about my daughter running into any half sibs randomly. However, stats show that for every pregnancy reported, there are others not reported. Visit the Donor Sibling Registry website for more info. Also, there are really good resources available to help you tell your child, google Talk and Tell. If you need to talk more, let me know and I will give you my email address. Good luck, and take care.

Allie, Thanks! One more quick Q? We really want a red-head :) any chance you had luck? We want a child together and after 3 yrs of trying we both decided genetics wasnt important to us anymore. We just really wanted the experience of having our family together. Its nice to know there are others out there. Gives me hope this process will work.

Hey hotmama, My daughter has the temper of a red head, lol, when she wants something, she wants it 5 mintes ago :) She is very even tempered though, and very social and happy. She is blonde with a hint of red right now, the hair at the back is auburn. I was white blonde when I was her age, and her hair is darker than that. She has fair skin as well, with a nice pink undertone (I am more yellow) and she got my blue eyes. Good luck, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Purchased and will be delivered on Wed. IUI is set for the 20th! Hopefully we get a BFP! Im hoping 4001's numbers are good. Do any of you remember your counts? Motility? Did it work first try, second, third?
  • AllieAllie Junior Member Junior Member
Good luck to you. The IUI worked for me the first time. Keep me posted, I am excited for you.
  • hotmama5623hotmama5623 Junior Member
Well, our IUI pre-freeze sample had 55% motility. Post-thaw was 35% Motility and 57.5 Million. Im hoping its enough. We did the IUI same day as positive OPK. My reasoning is that we wanted a girl and i know male sperm swims faster but girls live longer......i know its not exact science but im hoping for the best.
