Tomorrow is our first IUI! Follicle sizes are great!

Today is day 11 for my wife. She was on 100mg of Colmid from day 3 -5. Today she went in at 6:30am to get her follicles checked. We thought that we would go on Saturday for our first IUI, but it turns out that one is so large they are worried she will ovulate on her own and we will miss it. One was 19mm at 6:30am!! One was 12mm, which isn't mature yet, but they can grow 1 - 3mm for every 24hrs. She will do the trigger shot tonight and we will go in tomorrow at 8:30am! We were told that she will likely ovulate between 12 - 36hrs after the shot which will allow more time for the follicles to grow. The shot is also suppose to give follicles one last strong boast of growing power which means that we will likely have a 22mm and a 16mm! Sweet!

    Yes, we know. . .BFN.

No worries. We are on day 5 right now with 100mg of Clomid. And at least we know what to expect re meds this time.

We talked to our clinic and this will be our last IUI on Clomid. If this month doesn't work we are moving straight to injectable meds. They already have the order in place. If this month we get pregnant, we plan to donate the meds to women in need are our clinic. Meanwhile, if my wife overstimulates next month then we will go straight to IVF without wasting a cycle.

Our insurance is amazing will unlimited IUI and $50K in IVF tries. It feels good to have options.

I am surprised that your insurance will allow you to go straight to IVF after only 3 tries at IUI. Most polices state that you have to have tried 6 iuis before you can get IVF coverage. We dont have the luxury of any insurance coverage for infertility..our policy didnt even cover the testing. And we pay a lot to have this insurance to begin with. We have invested over 5,000 and haven't paid for any medication yet. Next month we will be doing injectables as well. WEll maybe I will be pregnant..and there wont be a next month.. heres to wishful thinking :)

    Good Luck Chris.

Sounds like you guys have a great outlook on this whole process! Congrats on the great insurance. I know the first month is kinda crazy due to the meds giving you all the signs that you could be pregnant. For my second IUI it was nice to know what to expect and I was much calmer. This month I have moved on to injectables, So far so good. It isn't bad giving myself the shot. I hardly feel it and I hate needles! No mood swings today which is great. On the clomid I got pretty bad mood swings for the first two days. Hopefully no issues with the gonal-f. I'm hoping to get more than 1 follicle! I'm sending lots of sticky baby dust to you guys! I am currently on day 4 and will probably have my IUI on the 26th or 27th if I follow the same pattern as the last two attempts, so we may be in the 2ww together! Good Luck and lots of prayers to you!

Sorry about your BFN  But we are all going through similar experiences and know that this is a supportive forum. I'm glad you have moved forward with the next cycle. Injectables have a higher success rate that Clomid especially after a few trials. Be careful on 100 mg, I ended up getting 6 mature follicles and subesequently cancelling that cycle.

Wishing you lots of baby dust!

Thanks for the reminder of support and for the follicle number concern. She was on 100mg last month and only had 1 ready follicle plus one that was close. We'll see how things go this time. She hasn't had many of the Clomid symptoms that she had the first go around.

If this doesn't work (or over stimulates) then we go to injectables and if she makes more than 3 or 4 follicles that month, the doc said we will go straight to IVF without missing a cycle. That will be nice. Injectables has a better percentage than Clomid and IVF has a better percentage than injectables so we are feeling pretty faithful things will work.

Today we go for IUI #2. We are feeling a lot more confident about this one.

    Follicle Size: 19mm, 12mm (IUI #1) , 23.25mm, 16.5mm, and one that was "close behind" (IUI #2)
    E2: 113 (IUI #1), 351 (IUI #2)
    Lining: 7 (IUI #1), 10 (IUI #2)
    Numbers are all CD11

My wife's body responded better to the Clomid this time which is so nice, plus the nurse moved her to the HcG trigger and told her that last time she should have been on two shots.

We'll see how this goes. I've been praying like a mad man with all the faith I can muster.

2ww begins and either way I'll have a clean, organized garage when it's over!

    Cmartin6706,

Good luck today!!! I'm moving into week 2 of 2ww and my basement, car, and closets are on their way to being purged and organized as well. Tomorrow is pelvic exam and progesterone shot along with blood work so here's to hoping for the both of us.

    Ask,

I thought your idea of closet purging was so brilliant, I copied! My side is done and the top of my dresser (which I haven't had clear since we moved in a year ago) is nearly in good order.

Our IUI went great today. No pain. Her cervix looked more open to me than it did last time. Yes, I look as a means to judge how close we were to her actual ovulation. (TMI Alert: Her mucus was nearly perfect just before she did her shot.) And, most exciting, we had a 47 million sperm count with 100% motility!

However, she didn't feel herself ovulate as of yet, but her body seems to be giving her great signals that it's either happening or just about to.

    How'd your day go?

Today was good, I guess. Pelvic went well, blood was drawn, and progesterone shot given. Now, we just sit and wait. Will take test on Saturday if nothing happens before that. In terms of ovulation, I didn't feel myself ovulate so I'm under the impression that I did. Very mild cramping off and on.

Great to hear that you liked the idea. The way I figure time is going to pass one way or another so might as well make it productive.

Today is day 8 post IUI. This time around as gone a million times better. My wife isn't having any false pregnancy symptoms with the progesterone except some moodiness. This makes it much easier to both get through the 2ww and not ask her a million questions about how she is feeling.

Yesterday the sore nipples and nausea started, but we are trying not to read too much into it. We plan to test on Monday, which is day 10.

Meanwhile no clean garage yet, maybe today?

    Aask how are you doing?

    Cmartin6706,

My garage isn't clean so we'll keep working on it together. I tested this morning and we got a BFP :D:D !!! Can't believe it!! Go into doctor's office on Tuesday morning to get blood work drawn and probably some other things. Going to lay low this weekend. Keep us updated!!

AHHHH! Happy Dance!!! Go you, go you!! How exciting!? Please keep me updated! What day out was that for you?

We have decided to try a test tomorrow, but with the understanding that it's only day 9 post iui. We looked it up and nearly no one has any symptoms on the Hcg trigger shot which is what my wife did this time. She started having some pre-preggo symptoms yesterday. We've felt very confident about this one from the beginning so although we aren't trying to read too much into anything and aren't getting too many of our hopes up, we excited to test.

    So excited for you!!

Thanks!!!! Super excited and relieved over here!!! We tested 14 days post IUI; my doctor was pretty adamant that I wait (he's pretty conservative). I cramped a little bit and spotted very slightly on day 24 (11 days post IUI) and then it was gone. This was different then other times b/c previously once I started spotting or cramping, it would continue until AF came. It was as if nothing had happened at all. My other friends said they experienced symptoms as if they were going to have their period but it just never happened. Good luck! Will you let us know tomorrow?

    Ask,

Today's test was neg, but since it's only day 9 post iui we aren't too worried. We plan to test again tomorrow. My wife started having back pains today and more nipple pain. The bumps on the area around the nipples are new. Her stomach uneasiness is a lot worse today too. Trying not to read too much into anything though, but we have a really good feeling about this cycle.

    We'll keep you updated!

I'm really sorry about your BFN. It really can be a discouraging journey but just know in your hearts that it will happen. Most docs don't think its unusual if things don't happen for several cycles or 6 months of trying. Not very comforting but it helped me put things in perspective. Keep moving forward and remaining positive. Good luck!
