The 2 week wait

Kleonard83Kleonard83 Junior Member Junior Member
Hello everyone! So it's been six days since my first insemination and 5 since the second. This 2 week wait is so hard. I'm trying really hard to not think about it and just live life like it hasn't happened :? There are times when I'm optimistic and there are times like right now where I'm not at all :( I know it's only been 6 days, but has anyone who has been inseminated felt anything this early as far as that feeling of "just knowing" you are pregnant? I am also on progesterone so maybe that could be making me a little blah? Any advice or thoughts of things that helped you to keep your mind occupied would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

No it wasnt until day 8 when I felt implantation, then again a few days later when my sense of smell was suddenly that of a dog.
  • hopefulcharhopefulchar Senior Member Senior Member
    What did implantation feel like.
  • Kleonard83Kleonard83 Junior Member Junior Member
Well that makes me feel a little better :) I do have at times sharp feeling cramps not sure if that means anything at all? The progesterone makes me so emotional :( They say that implantation feels like really bad period cramps, right?
  • bluesky10bluesky10 Senior Member Senior Member
I wouldnt call them bad cramps but cramping yes. Not everybody notices it tho

Wishing you all lots of baby dust! I started my TWW yesterday after my 4th IUI. The first 3 were on Clomid and yesterdays was with injectable meds. There were 4-5 mature follies and there were 80 million swimmers with 50% motility.

Looking forward to everyones updates and BFPs

    Good Luck Ladies

I got pregnant my first IUI time, then miscarried at 9 weeks.
After that we tried every cycle for a year (missing a few due to timing) - I just found out that I am pregnant again.Crossing my fingers hard.
For myself, I have to say that the 2 weeks waiting period is really really hard! I tried and tried to "not think about it" but honestly EVERY alone time that I had, I thought about that, made up the possibilities, calculated timing... What else do you think about like 40 times a day? It really takes over. And through the tries, I did not find it got any easier. Same same anxious feeling... The roller coaster is one of the hardest things I have put myself through emotionally without being able to find peace.
As for the "knowing" - the progesterone also did tricks on me. It made me moody and very bloated all the time. After the first time, I did have some notion of what it could feel like to be pregnant and I have to say that on the progesterone, I felt pregnant a couple of times and wasn't. I don't mean to discourage you. For me the most definite feeling came at the end of the second week (close to my period date). I could feel the bottom of my belly getting hard (that part of my belly usually caves in if I am lying on my back) right above the pubic bone...
    I hope this helps.

Be careful about the sperm count numbers and comparing apples and oranges. 80 million sounds like it is the concentration (probably post-wash) as opposed to the total motile count which is usually around 5-20 million post wash. So find out whether the numbers are pre- or post-wash and whether it is the concentration vs. the TMC. 80 mill and 50% motility probably has a good TMC anyway. But just don't want people thinking that Fairfax sold one person a vial having 80 mill TMC and another just 10 mill TMC. Fairfax keeps things around the minimums and just about (which are TMC numbers). So really the only thing people should be concerned with is whether they are getting a donor who consistently gets 5 million post-wash numbers whereas another donor is consistently at 15 million post-wash. You want to be above 10 million post-wash if at all possible.

Tillie, you are correct in your statements. However, after nearly 8 months of dealing with all this fertility stuff, I'm fully aware there are differences. I should have clarified my statement because the sample I referred to earlier in this post was IUI ready. Therefore, it was washed at Fairfax and the only thing that my doc did was thaw very slowly. So AFTER the thaw there were 80 million still present and swimming vigerously hence the high motility count.

    Good luck with everything!

Moe, I was talking to the other poster who may have been concerned about/down on her numbers vs. yours, not to you. I just wanted her to know that 80 million is not a TMC number and she may be looking at a TMC number for hers. My clinic has given me a print out of my "cryopreserved specimen insemination report" each time I've had an IUI. It's helpful to have. It gives all of the relevant numbers: volume, concentration, motility (%), progression, total motile sperm. And then it gives those pre- and post-wash. The concentration numbers are the large ones, maybe 127 mill or 86 mill or 65 mill or 150 mill. The motility % could be anywhere, like 24% or 71% or whatever. The progression for mine was usually 1+ to 2+ (1 = slight and 4 = rapid linear). "Total motile sperm" is what Fairfax and the RE's will tell you is THE number to focus on. That's usually from 5-25, like 4.8 (low) or 10 or 20.1 (very good) etc.

I know how disappointing it is to come here and be like oh no my number was 7.3 mill and hers was 120 mill and I should switch donors or I got screwed. Just wanted people to not read those things into it because people may be quoting all sorts of different numbers. The Fairfax minimums refer to the TMC, so your sperm will be within spitting distance of the minimums they have.

But I think they get the TMC from a calculation using the concentration, volume, and motility %. Anyway, 80 mill concentration and 50% motility is great.

Well my 2ww is over again and AGAIN I got a BPN!! Third time was not a charm for me...i am going to call a new doc today and get a new evaluation and see if he can give me any answers...my current doc seems to do the same thing for everyone and it seems like it should be more case by case to me so Im going to look into other options....just wish I hadnt used all my IUIs that my insurance covers so now everything is outta pocket =( Im upping my hours at my 2nd job and my partner is going to get a 2nd job just so we can afford to keep trying...I just thought this would be soooo much easier!
