The real deal with acupuncture

hopefulcharhopefulchar Senior Member Senior Member
Well ladies I just got home from my first session of acupuncture and can't seem to figure out my thoughts on it. Would love to hear your take on it..wether you have gone, are going soon or refuse to go. The only thing I do know is I definitely did feel like a pin cushion. Haha. Hope everybody is well!

    Charlotte,

I love it! I actually go for my allergies in addition to fertility. My allergies are super horrible and I didn't want to be on any meds for that even though I take Zyrtec and it's on the safe list. I just prefer not to take meds of any sort unless absolutely necessary. I started going weekly before my 3rd IUI & ended up with a BFP (ended in MC though) and I'm sure that had a lot to do with getting the BFP though. After the MC I've been going as well and actually went today as she wanted to see me right before AF which is due this week. We actually did a session 3 days after my last IUI and that's the plan for this time as well. She's actually going to be on vacation while I am on my injections so I won't have it done then but I also think it's why my follies grew quicker than the doctor expected the last time as well. I actually tried to count the needles today as she was pulling them out but I couldn't keep up! Yes you definitely feel like a pin cushion but I actually enjoy it. Hope it helps you:)

I'm not sure that I love it! LOL....but I feel that it makes a difference! I started acupuncture 2 months ago and really felt when I ovulated...I totally felt that it helped for my 3rd IUI, so that's why I was so convinced that I was pregnant! My acupuncturist likes to see me after day 10 (around day 13)...to help with ovulation. I don't know if it was my imagination, but I think that my follicle sizes were bigger too.

My acupuncturist also has me on herbs and I just started 3 weeks ago. I feel that it's helping too...but who knows!?! Good luck ladies!

How often do you ladies go to acupuncture? I did two sessions before my iui this week. One the evening prior around 6 pm (the iui was at 8 am) and the next one was right after at 9am. I plan to now go about once a week until this works!

    OK ladies,
So I have decided to try acupuncture. I have been thinking about it for a week and have told myself I would call for an appointment all week long. Then while at work I would ger distracted and before I knew it, it was too late to call! Might have been that I am also a little nervous about having pins stuck in me! So today I had a training and got home earlier that normal and have an appointment on Monday at 3! I am nervous and a little scared too. I truly feel like I will be having a visit from af next week which is incredible since that will mean that it has been 30 days since last af!!!! yeahhhhhhh, I do not belive that I will have to wait 6 weeks like the last time I had to stop the injectibles. Only thing I can thik is that the follicles that did develop just weren't healthy enough to make a baby but were healthy enough to be released and to keep things on schedule for this month. Everything happens for a reason doesn't it!?

So for those of you who have done this, what should I expect....What should I wear.....and how will I feel?

I am excited and scared at the same time......anything to help to have the excitement outway the fear would be greatly appreciated. Prior to all of this I had a phobia of needles, ok maybe not quite a full blown phobia but I avoided them at all costs!

    Hi Robin,

I went to acupunture today! I sent you a PM with additional info. Good luck!

So today was my first appointment! Anyone who has been nervous about this or scared should go! While I felt the needle go in it was just a poke then I didn't feel them until she took them out.I had more energy when I got home and do feel like it went straight to my ovary. Is it weird that I felt twinges from the left side where there is no ovary? She gave me a book to read. The infertility cure by Randine Lewis,PhD. She told me to take it and bring it back next week at my appointment. I truly believe that this will help me. She took A LOT of time getting history with me and checked back with me while I was relaxing. She put them in spots to help af arrive. The only thing is that while relaxing my feet started to itch! Thank goodness after a few minutes it stopped. She said that is a normal reaction something about heat being released! Whatever it was I felt it working.

    Here's to october ladies!

So today was my second appointment. I think my uterus is warmer already! I have already started to change my diet to help support what the acupuncturist is doing. No cold drinks, only warm and my food needs to be cooked. I have an issue with the kidney yand and spleen Qi, with secondary issues with blood stasis, dampness and cold uterus..... there was lots of information in that book I read! I just ordered a copy today. There is alot of suggestions with the diet and too much to remeber or keep straight.

i feel very positive and relaxed after today's session. I am going up to bed.... going to do the femoral massage before going to bed!

Here's too October, Hell here is to a great response on thursday!!
