single iui or double iui

hopefulcharhopefulchar Senior Member Senior Member
Ok Ladies..

I met with my doctor yesterday and we have decided to try a double iui next month if this one doesnt work. I would love to hear successes or failures with doing a double insem. in one month? It is making me feel hopeful that it might help. THOUGHTS???

I'm doing my first IUI this cycle if AF ever shows. I've choosen to do a double...b2b iui. I think it will greatly increase my chances of getting it done this time and if I don't and I have to do a 2nd cycle then I'll still need a 2nd vial and all of the dr fees so I think it's a good idea if you can afford it...if you ovulate.

with our first doc we did a single IUI... we changed doctors (for multiple reasons), and the new dr. does double IUI's. We only did this once so far. Unfortunately it didn't work this time, but we'll see next time. I like the idea of upping our chances. Good luck.

Janet..it you dont mind me asking how many iuis did you do with just one insem. each month? I am on my 6th iui and all have been done with just one per month. The last three rounds have been with clomid. I have felt like we are missing the target so my doctor is offering to do two this month if my currect cycle doesnt work. Fingers crossed that we dont have to go there!

Wishing you luck in your journey

We do two inseminations a month on back to back days.... It's a little more expensive in that we have to use two vials per month rather then one, but if it ups the chances then why not. So the doc times it for when the egg drops, and then the next day as well. I like this idea a lot. my first doctor had the idea of LOTS of follicles and a little sperm... we were scared of muliples... plus my partner wound up with hyper-stimulation which was EXTREMELY painful for her. Plus I think her timing was off the first time... that doc didn't see patients on the weekend. This doc does just a few follicles and a double dose of sperm. We like that a lot more... I don't wanna be an Octo-mom. hahahaha Plus they are open 7 days a week.
