Clomid

k&bk&b Senior Member Senior Member
Soooo after all of the time (& money!) it took us to positively get to the idea of DI we then had to make sure everything with my body is ok. All tests were great, tubes clear, lots of healthy follicles, I ovulate, I am 28 healthy etc etc. My Dr. just had one last test... progesterone. Apparently, it is evident that I ovulated, but my progesterone level is what she calls "borderline". So, for my very first try (November) she wants to put me on Clomid. What are your experiences with Clomid? As someone who does ovulate, are my chances of twins that much higher? Not sure I can handle twins!! (Of course whatever blessing is given us we will take)
Thanks all!!

I also ovulate and everything is in perfect working order. I tried 3 natural (unmedicated and unmonitored) IUI's that failed, so I went on Clomid and got triplets. I really feel monitoring is the key. I was not monitored on the unmedicated cycles, I just used OPKs...which now I know are not accurate enough for everyone. If you do go with the Clomid just make sure they monitor how many follies/eggs you are producing. Personally, knowing what I know now, if I had more than 2 matures follies I would call off the IUI and try again the next cycle. When I got pregnant with the triplets I had 3 mature follies and one that was close. I know a LOT of moms of multiples thanks to Clomid. Good luck!

I've had 4 cycles all of which were unsuccessful. I ovulate on my own but since I'm 40 my doc opted to start me on meds. The first three cycles were on Clomid I averaged between 2-4 mature follies. Then on one cycle of injectables I had 5 mature follies. My doc cancelled my first cycle on Clomid which produced 6 mature follies. There's no guarantee that just because you have more than 2 mature follies then you will have multiples. The doc will look at your age and other factors. Now if you are fairly young, say under 25 years old, then that's something different. But my understanding that as the eggs age it is harder to concieve one let alone more than one and maintain the pregnancy. Sometimes they start out as twins and one doesn't make it through the first few weeks. It's better to have more targets (follies) when you are older, say over 35 years old.

    Good luck!

I was 26 when I got my BFP. Was on 50 mg of Clomid, 4 mature follies and ended up with a singleton. The other cycle I tried I had 2 follies with obviously no luck.
