What to eat......

sweetpeasweetpea Member Member
I know that there are a lot of things to take into consideration while trying to get pregnant and I think your diet is the main one. I would love to hear from you ladies about what you are eating or adding to your daily routine gearing up for baby. I was obviously told to quit the caffeine and artificial sweetners (I am having SUCH a hard time with the diet sodas - is real sugar bad?), eat a pinapple core after IUI (how much and when?), have dairy before you ovulate (does that really matter with an IUI?), etc., etc., etc. Please let me know what you are doing and especially from the ones that got the BFP's!!

    sweetpea,
I changed my diet to fit my diagnosis from the acupuncturist. What I ate was specific to the deficiencies I had. I cut out caffeine all together and now just drink herbal tea. After you get rid of the headaches, it really wasn't a big deal and I have just as much energy. I never would have thought that! I did eat the core of a pineapple after the iui. Charlotte told me that you are only supposed to eat the core. You take the core and cut it into 5 pieces. You eat one piece each day for the 5 days after the iui. Do not eat more than that. Too much pineapple can have the opposite affect. Does it work, I don't know but I did get my BFP this month! I also just found out that someone else I know ate the pineapple core and it worked for her too. It is a tend tough and full of fiber but still tastes like pineapple, just chewier. I let my family have the rest of the pineapple. I took it along with my vitamin at night.

Real sugar is not bad for you, like everything else just in moderation.

Good Luck to you, sending lots of baby dust your way!

Thanks for the feedback! I think I tend to drive myself crazy thinking that what I am eating will harm my chances of getting pregnant, but I will definitely do the pineapple core this month. Congratulations on the BFP's Robin and Bluesky10! :D

I'm laughing to myself because there's no perfect diet for fertility. Obviously, cut out the alcohol. But as for the caffeine under 3 cups a day is not shown to be harmful. There's conflecting info about it possibly making it difficult to get pregnant but I know plenty of friends that were consuming colas and coffee during their pregnancies. Moderation is the key word here. Real sugar is better for you than all that fake stuff. The body knows how to metabolize the real stuff. And look at all the healthy pregnancies that women didn't even know until they realized 6 or more weeks after implantation. They were living normal lives and eating God knows what! I keep thinking about that crazy show about the women that didn't know they were pregnant until they thought they were having the biggest bowel movement and out pops a full term healthy baby.... That is certainly extreme but just bear in mind that you can eat all the best organic veggies/fruits, eliminate deli meat, cheeses, sugar, and caffeine but there are absolutely no guarantees in what God will bless you with.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but it's just my opinion. Good luck and wishing you all the very best!

    Moe!

I ate an entire pineapple over a 3-4 day span starting the day before transfer and continued through transfer. This was our 3rd and final IVF attempt, and coincidence or not, we now have a 10 week old baby girl!
