To all those who have been blessed to be a part of the bfp club I have a question. Did any of you get your positive without a trigger shot? My doctor has not allowed me to be on one and I am now starting my 9th cycle. I am feeling very naive for just going with the flow of what this doctor said and angry we have put in so much money.

Also how many cycles have your doctors allowed you all to stay on Clomid. And did anybody have a doctor recommend Clomid and injectables together?

Thanks for your help. I have a dr appointment on Monday and would like as much information as possible before hand.

Wishing everybody a happy day today!!

Hi, to answer your question, I have always had a trigger shot.

I've had 9 IUI's total. The first 6 I was given Clomid and the trigger shot. We used the same donor for those 6 and never got a BFP.

After the 6th IUI we decided to take 10 months off to give me a break and we got a new doctor. The new doctor had us switch to a new donor and told us we would only do 2 more IUI's total before moving to IVF (if we were unsuccessful). In addition, the new doctor put me on Clomid, injectables (I think it was gonal-f) and the trigger shot.

The first IUI using the new donor and doctor was negative. However, the 2nd and 3rd IUI with the new donor and the enhanced medication protocol resulted in BFPs.

With the amount of money we invested and spent, I preferred the more aggressive approach.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

My nurse suggested that i do clomid, injectables and a trigger shot. I had never heard of this before but it is encouraging to hear that it worked for somebody in a similar situation. Do you remember why your doctor used clomid with injectables? I have an appointment on monday to discuss all of this with her and just want to make sure i am asking all the right questions.

I hope you are well..did you have a baby yet?

I'm 39 and did 4 IUIs unmedicated and no trigger shot. I got a BFP on the 4th IUI. Unfortunately I lost that pregnancy. I then did two more unmedicated rounds and now, #7 is with injectibles and I will have a trigger shot.

For the unmedicated rounds, I used an OPK and regular ultrasounds to confirm.

Thanks Anne. I think you are really close to your lucky #7 right? good luck and keep us posted.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of injectables are you on.

I am 39 now and I started at 38. I had 4 IUI in total, 3 unmedicated (unsuccessful) and one with 50mg of Clomid day 2-7. No trigger shot, I had 2 large mature follicles, both ovulated spontaneously on day 14 with natural LH surge and 10 days post IUI I had my BFP (June 13). Now I am about 27 weeks pregnant with a beautiful baby girl from donor 4031.

    All the best to everyone!

Thanks for sharing everyone. I'm wondering how you decided whether to use injectibles or Clomid. Is it the "first step" to start with Clomid? If so, does anyone know why? We FINALLY finished all of the tests and are meeting w/our doc next week to get started!!!

My doctor just recommended that I skip Clomid and go right to injectibles. I'm on Follistim AQ. I started at 225mg and am now on 150mg. My belly is looking very festive with bruises from purple to that lovely brown/green. (but at least it doesn't hurt at all)

I had 4-5 follicles at my appointment yesterday. I go in again tomorrow morning and will probably do the IUI around 7-8 December.

I did 3 IUIs with Clomid 50 mg (and my RE never used trigger shot)....but on my 4th IUI, I was on Gonal-f (225 mg because of my age...i think some may start on 150) and that time I did use a trigger shot. Unfortunately all 4 IUIs resulted in BFN! :(

I did read about using Clomid for the first few days and then switched to an injectable....because cost efficient, etc. I asked my RE about that b/c none of my injectables were covered but my Clomid is....my RE does not use that method.

I responded to Clomid 50 mg but only one egg...

I googled online (because can't remember where I read all that info on it--it was a while back)...but I found one website that seemed bit helpful:
