Basal Body Temp Charting

What is everyone's take on BBT charting? Do you think it really helps with timing?

I personally do it....I feel that when I was on clomid, the BBT was super accurate....with LH surge and period....without and with injectables, it was a little more crazy and harder to figure out....but I figure it's a free way to figure things out, along with everything else!

Thanks for the imput. My husband and I have decided to just keep doing unmedicated cycles because of the cost, so I am looking for anything that might help.

@sweetpea, do you do ultrasounds with your doc? are you using clomid? clomid was covered under my insurance, but my injectables are not.

i also was using OPKs.....even though my RE uses ultrasounds on every visit....so they can see if i've ovulated or not or how many good follicles i have.

When I started with my doctor in May, they accepted my insurance. Our company changed providers in September and my doctor does not take Humana any longer. So I can not use insurance for anything other than the blood work. This plan covers less than the Aetna I used to have, so it doesn't matter that the doctor's office doesn't take it anyway. Long story short, I have to pay out of pocket for everything except the blood work, so I have been on unmonitored and unmedicated cycles hoping I get my timing right. That is why I wanted to give the BBT charting a go for a couple of cycles before I did my next IUI. I did get a good doctor on call that gave me an "unofficial" ultrasound for my IUI right after the miscarriage. When they have done an ultrasound, it has showed one big follie, so I guess, as always, it comes down to the timing and the sperm counts.
