I just wanted to let you ladies know that no matter how low the sperm count is you just needs one good swimmer. I am pregnant off of this donor and the sperm count was super low uner 5 million but I had 3 very good follicles. I am looking for others who also got pregnant from this donor

    We have been recently blessed with a healthy baby girl from this donor in November 2011 but have recently got word that he is currently restricted due to a reported problem at birth. We are confused now what we will do with the remainining specimens we have since we were planning on having another child in the future. I feel so grateful that we were able to have such a beautiful addition to our life!

    I am actually having a girl from this donor too but am not due until July. We are very excited. We also got word about this donor having a fetus with a birth defect. The type of birth defect that did occur is probaly due to lack of follic acids. It is always good to take prenatal vitamins months in advance before the intital IUI. It has been hard to find other couples who have used this donor.

    I believe the reason that he is restricted is because a baby was born with spina bifida. My Dr called me and told me about it while I was pregnant. I still plan on getting more vials from this donor (they will let me buy more because we already have a child by this donor). I am not worried because this is not a genetic condition. It can be caused by the mother having a lack of folic acid. I don't think there is anything to worry about with the additional specimens and I would still use them.

    There should be no risk is greater than 1% and can be further reduced by taking folic acid supplements of 4 mg before and during pregnancy. During pregnancy, prenatal screening would be recommended and includes ultrasounds and alpha-fetoprotein maternal blood screening.
    We would use the same donor again and just take precaution.
    We had no luck with IUI and needed IVF. We were never told anything about a low sperm count, if anything we were told "everything was fine". We wounder if that is why IUI did not work or was it ME?
    Anyone else need IVF with this donor?
