CMV???

My first Doc made a big deal about this and said since I was negative that I HAD to pick a negative donor. Well my new doc doesnt even test CMV and says it doesn't matter. That I can pick any donor. I am concerned about doing that. Do your doctors think it makes a difference?

Mine does. If your negative you should pick a negative donor. The chances are very small but there are some serious complications that come from this. Why put yourself in harms way if you don't have to

That is what I was thinking but my first Doc didnt know much (i have PCOS, polyps, and endometriosis and she had no idea) so was just surprised she knew this and cared about this but my current doc (that has great success rates) doesnt even bother with it. So if I hadnt already been tested he wouldnt even do it so I wouldnt know that I was negative.

I'm CMV negative. My first donor was positive since I wasn't aware of potential issues. I got pregnant on my 4th IUI and lost the pregnancy at 8 weeks. I don't know if CMV status had anything to do with it, but don't take the chance. I'm now using CMV negative donors only. I'm in my 8th TWW so praying for a BFP this time!

The Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is basically the herpes viruses. When searching for CMV Negative donors, it appears that the majority of the donors at Fairfax Cryo are CMV Positive. So does this mean the majorities of the donors have at some point in their lives, suffered from herpes?
