starting the journey- looking for support :)

Well, tomorrow is the big day. My first ultrasound to see if this Clomid cycle was successful and check on the status of my follies. After the ultrasound, the doctor will tell me when to trigger and when the IUI will be performed. I spent the morning track my specimen was so happy to see that it arrived at the doctor's office. Was even happier when I received a phone call from the doctor confirming that the specimens had arrives safely. :D As you can imagine, I am anxious, nervous and excited all at the same time. I had been reading blogs and saw so many people share their story and are in the same boat we are. Although we have confided in a few close people and they are really supportive, they really don't know what we are going through. So, I decided to reach out to others in this forum and look for support and offer it as well :D

My story-- After about a year of trying to get pregnant the "natural way", I visited my gyno/obgyn to share my frustration and concern. Thankfully, my doctor didn't encourage me to "keep on trying" and referred me to a fertility doctor. I made that nerve racking phone call and had to wait 3 months to get into the doctor. Went through all the preliminary tests for both of us. A few days after my DH's sperm analysis, our fertility doctor called us that evening to deliver the heartbreaking news; DH has azoospermia.

We met with our doctor to discuss the results and she immediately referred us to a urologist that she works with. After about 6 weeks of waiting to get into the doctor, we had our appointment. DH went through a battery of tests and cycles of medicine for several months. Unfortunately, the doctor confirmed azoo with unknown reason why.

After meeting with our fertility doctor again, she suggested IUI with DS. So, after many more tests, research and tearful conversations, we decided to go that route. Adoption wasn't in our minds because I checked out A'OK (thank goodness) and really want to experience pregnancy. DH is super excited to be a dad and is comfortable and confident with our DS route.

So, that's my story. I hope to hear from others who are going through the process or can offer words of encouragement/advise. Fingers (and toes) crossed for a successful start for my first IUI cycle :D

How did the scan end up going? Did you do your IUI?
I am in the same position as you, I am healthy, everything checked out great, but my hubby has azoo.
The decision to go the DS route was harder for us, especially my hubby. It took several years for him to even entertain the idea, and then 10 months to go from entertaining the idea, to ok with the idea.
I am glad your hubby is comfortable with your decision, and ask him to pass some of that comfort to mine!!
I am going in for round three next week.
    Good luck!

Yeah, I had my first IUI yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, the specimen didn't thaw out too well and my numbers were quite low. Low enough that my fertility clinic is contacting Fairfax to file a complaint on my behalf and hopefully help me receive a refund/compensation.

I hope your DH gains more confidence in the decision. Have you guys thought about going to a counselor? Our FC requires us to do that and it did help. Just a suggestion :)

Prog test Monday and then in for my beta test on the 16th. Baby dust!!

    stine,

Sorry that try did not work. I hope you do get a refund. Which donor did you use, if you don't mind me asking?
